Poly or Contemp??

that is now the new question, although i wouldn't mind staying in the Poly, the Contemp. is sounding more fiesable (sp?) being that you can walk to MK....

Can anyone tell me different, pro's con's.........poly vs. contemp.??
and if you walked to the MK how long does it take approx. thanks!

thank you!

i have to call AAA by 4pm today so i need to make a decision fast....thanks!

Haven't stayed at the Poly... the room at the Contemporary was very nice though. I love the monorail going through... however, the Contemporary lacks a "theme" to me (but not to everyone I suppose). But you can't beat the convenience! When we stayed for MVMCP, it was so great to just walk back to the room. I think it was about 15 min. from door to Dumbo! So maybe 10 or less to the entrance depending on how fast you walk.

If you're looking for convenience, the Contemporary is the best. If you want to be immersed in a theme, I would go Poly.

Have fun!

I would say CR. I think its so great being able to take the monorail and being able to get off right in ur hotel, especially at nighttime when its late. I also think the rooms are bigger there, than at Poly. CR has a nice pool (so does PR), and u can watch the electric parade go by at night on the water. The walk to the MK is about 10-15 mins.

IMO I would choose the Cont. We have tried both, and its a favorite (along w/ AKL & Dolphin)
The walk is about 7-10 minutes, but the monorail from either is just as quick, so I wouldn't let that be the determining factor.
If you do choose the Cont. (or even if you don't) try the Calf Grill at the top of the Cont. The food and service are great (ask for Billy) and its an excellent spot to watch the Wishes fireworks. (there is also kids clubs at both resort, in case you need some ADULT time)
Have fun!:cool1:

I would also vote for the Contemporary. Besides having the walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom they are also the 1st stop on the Resort Monorail when leaving the Magic Kingdom, so it won't take you long to arrive. Plus when waiting for a bus for Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom or Downtown Disney, the Contemporary is going to be the 1st stop. So best chance at getting seats. That also means the Contemporary will be the 1st stop when coming back from those locations. Finally the walk to the Magic Kingdom takes no more then 10 minutes and is very easy to do.

You're welcome and let us know what your final decision was.

I think the theme (or lack thereof) at CR would be boring for kids. Poly on the other hand has a fabulous theme. As for being the 1st stop on the monorail, I don't see that as such a big deal. From the Poly, it's the 2nd stop.

I would stay at CR only if I could be in the tower. I had booked a wing room there and switched to the Poly. I feel if I have to walk outside to my room I may as well stay at the beautiful Poly surrounded by the wonderful theming and gorgeous landscaping. JMO!

Actually the Polynesian is the 3rd stop. After it leaves the Magic Kingdom it goes Contemporary, TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian.

I was referring to going to Magic Kingdom. 1st 2nd or 3rd, wherever you are on the monorail I can't see caring too much which stop it is.

This is true, but MK is the last stop from CR. That's kind of a bummer when you are trying to get to the park early first thing in the morning.

I do prefer the atmosphere at CR though. I just don't really get the Hawaii theming when I am vacationing in FL.

What your forgetting is guests can use the walkway to the Magic Kingdom which will take no more then 10 minutes and will be faster then taking the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

Nope, I didn't forget. We just don't like to walk it. My kids want to ride the monorail.

So you're telling me it's the 1st stop??

Sorry CR Resort Fan 4 Life, I couldn't resist :);)

We've walked to MK from the Contemporary, but really I figure if you're staying at a monorail resort... you just have to take the monorail!

Of course we've been known to ride the monorail all the way around unnecessarily (doing 1 1/2 loops to get to our stop) just because we enjoy it. :rolleyes1

I vote for the Poly. I stayed at the Coincerage at the Poly in December and absolutely love the entire resort. Much more theming than the Contemporary. The Contemporary hardly had anything for X-mas. It is too modern for me. Plus it was much easier to find someone who works at the Poly than at the Contemporary. I was planning on staying for 3 days this September before my DVC Cruise but I have a lot of expenses this year. I totally plan on returning to the Poly. Even if it is not the Coincerage (sp?).

What was great about Poly: The staff, the atmosphere, the view, the theming, the food, the monorail, even the people who stayed there.
