Help my sister decide-
She is a first time vistor to Disney-
POLY or BEACH CLUB???

She is traveling with her husband and 3 yr old son........

Any opinions?

Polynesian, so she will have monorail access to the Magic Kingdom and a great snack area at Captain Cooks.

i would also vote the poly.. for monorail access.. zero-entry pool with a 3yr old.. you can sit on the beach and watch the fireworks over the magic kingdom..

you should check out tikiman's site.. he has a wealth of knowledge about the poly..

Definitely the Poly! With a 3 yr old they will be frequenting the MK and the Poly is right on the monorail.

...we've stayed at both resorts...SAB at BC is AMAZING (sandy bottom), but for a little guy, the pool at the Polynesian would be just perfect...

Monorail access seals the deal
:):)

Have fun planning with them!!

We just got back yesterday from 3 days at BC and 4 at the poly... Poly all the way.... my 11 year old thought the BC was a grown up resort.....unless they are going to spend alot of time at epcot... i would not even think of the BC... i know that their are BC lovers out there..but the poly is so magical... we love going to MK on the boat... very quick..and the BC does not have a food court... my kids missed that at BC...my husband did love the BC...I did not...any questions just ask...amy

I vote for Poly. With a little one the view of Cinderella's Castle alone is so magical. You can also sit on the beach at the Poly and view the fireworks from there instead of fighting the crowds to watch them inside the park. And if you sit in the right place on the beach they even pipe the music onto the beach.

"The Poly is very amazing if you are a little guy, or even 69! This resort is very perfect. You can get a wonderful view of fireworks from their beach. I also recommend you try the volcano pool/slide. It is right on monorail, and in my opinion it is the most magical resort in Disney World. The End"

Quote from Joey, my 7.5yoDS :earseek:

I vote Beach Club. Ever since I heard there are no hot tubs at the Poly I have no desire to try it. After a long day walking the parks my husband and I fully make use of hot tubs.

Ive been to the Beach CLub twice and I love it

While the BC is one of my favorite resorts, I would go with the Poly because of the child's age-- I'm sure the MK would be his favorite park and monorail access at the Poly makes going there so much more convenient--the pool at the Poly is also smaller and thus, a little less overwhelming for a youngster to navigate...zero-entry from the beach makes it better as well. Although the Poly itself has wonderful restaurants (I especially love Kona!), the CR and GF will be right next door--I know a lot of kids love the Chef Mickey's buffet and CG, Narcoosses, and Citricos can offer more upscale meals... Captain Cook's at the Poly is great too if you just want to pick up a quick snack or meal-- you cannot have a bad view at any room at the Poly and the tropical atmosphere is so magical and interesting. I especially love when the resort pipes in Hawaiian music throughout the grounds--so relaxing, yet close to everything you want to see and do. The Poly's beach is great as well b/c you can watch the MK fireworks from there rather than have to go into the park to see them-- I love both the BC and Poly, but in this case I think the Poly is a more sensible decision.

Polynesian - it is a wonderful place and having the monorail access to me would make things so much easier with a little one :earsboy:

The Poly is great, but it's old. We've stayed there tons, and will do so again in the future. The BC has THE best pool on property, without question, and a guy at the pool who gets all kinds of activities going. It is also a short walk to the Boardwalk where they have all kinds of games going on at night. The Poly is convenient to the Magic Kingdom. The monorail is fun (at least the first time) and so are the boatrides. You can't lose either way!!

Just got back from the Poly and loved every minute.

1.close to the TTC
2.Monorail stops in the restort
3.Volcano pool is great for kids
4.View of the fireworks at MK are wonderful
5. Rooms are BIG

Most of all - it's like getting 2 vacations at once. Staying at the Poly puts you in the Hawaiian atmosphere - slow and relaxing. This is a great thing after you've been in the parks.

Have a great time - and don't forget ice !

Another thumbs up for the Polynesian here as well. I have enjoyed both resorts several times and both have some wonderful benefits..... but for 1st timers, having the monorail system and going out to the waters edge and watching the fireworks shows... hard to pass up for a 1st timer. You'll be a hero no matter what resort you choice though!

Good Luck!

I'm outnumbered here, but I vote BC...we went with our 2DD 8 and 4 recently and the 4 yr old loved the fireworks at EPCOT so much...it was nice to walk over for quick visits to EPCOT which is all we really did there...no full days, just dinners, princess breakfast ,fireworks on nights we were not at MK or MGM...

the pool at BC was fantastic...sandy bottom, lazy river....quiet pools at night...

when we went to MK it was for the day so back and forth on the monorail was not an issue for us....boat ride from BC to MGM was fun and different and EASY

I don't think there is a bad thing to say about either, but they could look at what they think they are going to do the most and how each would fit them better.....

Poly is a little older would be my only negative comment

Because of the childs age I'd lean toward the Poly. But I love the YC/BC also. Find out which parks they are going to spend the most time at and let that dictate where they stay.

We've stayed at both more than once and I vote for the Polynesian hands down!::yes::
