Poly or Beach Club?

How to choose? I have stayed at both at least twice. They both have amazing pools, but Stormalong Bay (Beach Club) is just amazing!! Polynesian also has a great pool, too. As for the rooms, they both have excellent rooms. I like Beach Club's just a little more, though. Although, Polynesian has great rooms too. I believe either is a great choice. :)

Gotta go Poly. Yes, the pool is awesome at Beach Club. But you can find great pools other places. Where else will you find a monorail pulling up to your front door every few minutes (other than the Contemporary & GF, of course)?

That's a difficult descision. We are doing a split on our next trip. We have stayed at BC 2 times and Poly 3.

POLY
pros

Bigger rooms

Better transportation options

Wishes from the Beach.

The view from the pool without a doubt the best on property.

The monorail.

Best pool for young kids. Zero entry, easy to see the whole pool, beach to play on, splash area, great activites.

I love the longhouse set up. No long confusing hallways. Everything is close by.

Lots of dining options on monrail. Walkway to GF

Cons

No hottub

No Gym

BEACH ClUB.

Location. Walking distance to DHS and epcot.

Bright airy rooms

The pools is the best for kids over 8

Lots of dining options.

gym next to pool

Cons

Lack of CS.

Long confusing hallways

smaller rooms, tiny tiny bathrooms.

hard to keep an eye on kids at pool.

I really like them both, but if I had to pick it would be Poly.

Good luck

I love them both! For us Poly was better when the kids were younger (nothing beats wheeling the stroller right onto the monorail!) But now that 2 are teens and the youngest is 9, BC location and pool wins out. I will say that I like the rooms at the Poly much better. BC has a bad layout IMO, with the sink area open and a tiny little bathroom.

Whatever you choose you will love it though, they are both awesome resorts!!

They are both fabulous resorts!

I think Padawns had a very accurate list of pros and cons. I could not agree more!

We stayed at the Poly a few years back when our girls were younger and it was very convenient to MK. So nice to be able to just jump on the monorail with the strollers.

Last year we stayed at BC and it was so nice to be able to walk to Epcot and go bakc and forth quickly. Also very close to HS! I also enjoyed having the boardwalk a stroll away to shop and dine. I also loved the fact the pool is controlled and you need to have ID to get in!!!!!! I diskike the Poly for that reason. Awesome pool at the Poly, but always very crowded and not with Poly guests!!!! I could never get a towel or chair there. Stormalong Bay, was fabulous!!!! They give you towels when you enter and plenty of chairs. It is busy, but very enjoyable. Lots of areas to keep everyone entertained. My girls loved it and DH and I loved it!

As others have said, they are both awesome resorts and really can't go wrong with either one. But with that said, the Poly would be my choice. We love the Poly for the larger rooms, a daybed in every room, the beach for watching the fireworks, and Captain Cooks for quick CS meals or snacks :goodvibes. It is great being within walking distance to Epcot and DHS from the BC, but we love being in close proximity to MK and having a great view of the castle off in the distance. Good luck deciding :wizard:.

Great list!! We decided between these two last night and went with Poly for all the reasons you listed.

This is a tough choice. We have been to BC 3 times now....it is one of our favorite resorts on property. We are booked at Poly for our next trip (doing a split stay between Poly and BLT). BC has an awesome pool, is in walking distance between 2 parks, however, we only walk over to Epcot but we take the nice ferry over to DHS. Now as for Poly, unfortunately I can't compare room sizes since the last time I stayed there I was a kid in the 80s, but I know they have really great restaurants, wonderful shopping, love the monorail, and the view of MK on the beach is just breathtaking. We are staying in a MK view room and cannot wait to wake up seeing it right out our window :goodvibes. Good luck deciding whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with either of them.

good choice (however i would have said that if you chose the bc too:goodvibes) i love both resorts maybe the poly a smidge more. have a great trip!

I love both....my vote SPLIT stay!!! BTW....BC has food options at the pool and gift shop too. :thumbsup2 Older kids love SAB!!! Mine do. :) Poly is great too for the monorail, closeness to other monorail resorts for dining options. I say do both...SPLIT your stay!!!:goodvibes

Definitely Beach Club- I found the Poly a little dated and the rooms not as nice as in the Beach Club. The pool at BC is incomparable, and the location is prime, as are the restaurants in the area! The only reason why I'd say Poly is if you're a big MK family.

OMG, no contest. Beach Club all the way. Poly is tired, old, and dark... gloomy too. No hot tub at the main pool, and the food there has really fallen off. Also, their overhead music at 6:00 am is nuts (unless they've finally stopped that).

BC is light, and bright and airy and the CMs are wonderful! Love Beaches and Cream, and Hurricane Hannah's and the indoor counter service in the resort shop. The pool is the claim to fame, but the beach is very nice too.

The location can't be beat. We are EPCOT lovers, so nothing is closer than BC.

We are OKW owners and love it there, but if we're looking to stay in a resort instead of a vacation home, we'll be at the BC every time.

We couldn't decide either, so we opted to stay at BC for three nights, go on our Fantasy cruise, and then come back and stay at Poly for 2 nights.

We absolutely loved AKL on our last trip, hoping we don't miss it too much on this trip!

Can't decide. Give me the low down on both.

Depends on when you're going and a few other items. I just got back from the Poly today.

In the offseason Poly
During the main tourist season likely the poly

Couple of questions to answer
1. If you like the comfort of getting on a monorail and whipping right back to your resort then choose the poly (When you leave the park with crowds and when the monorail breaks down (didn't on use) will weigh heavily into this as well)
2. Are pools important? The BC has the better pool by a long shot but we went and had no plans for resort days so the pool was a non-factor for us.
3. Which parks do you plan to visit the most? If MK/Epcot are the main ones then poly

Either way I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. We would choose the poly again no matter when it is because we like the convenience of the monorail and less bus rides.

My choice would be BC hands down. We stayed at the Poly once and weren't overly impresses - too dark. It basically depends on where you will be spending most of your time. We spend most nights eating at the restaurants in Epcot so we only stay at the Epcot resorts now. The convenience to the the two parks is great. If you plan on spending more time at the MK then the Poly might be better. As I said, the BC would be my choice hands down.

To the OP,

I am the biggest Poly fan around, but from your signature, it looks like you have stayed there many times as well! Since you seem a little torn this time, why not take an opportunity to try something new? I would suggest giving BC a shot, or at least doing a split stay, to give it a try. I have never personally stayed at BC, and I don't have too much desire to stay there until I take my F&W trip some day, but it certainly has its loyal fans! We did a split stay in the summer of 2010 because we really wanted to try AKL, but we didn't want to give up our Poly. It worked out great and the split was remarkably easy.

Good luck with your decision! And no matter what, you're going to Disney!!

I also vote for split stay... we did a split stay Poly/BC last year (3 nights at each) and it was PERFECT! We did MK stuff during the Poly stay and Epcot/MGM stuff during BC stay. CM's move your bags free of charge and it was seamless process.
