Poly newbie questions

Hi, everyone! We've stayed at BC many times and love it, but over Christmas, we stayed at SOG simply because of the price since that's the most expensive time to stay at a deluxe. I hadn't been to SOG in years and then we'd only walked through the Poly and didn't really look at it since our kids were pretty young at the time. But in December, we spent time there and I just fell in love with it and have to stay there. It is just gorgeous! So I want to take my DD18 there in August, but have some questions for people who have stayed there.

How far are the "garden view" rooms from the main lobby and monorail?

Is it difficult to reserve one of those little boats to drive around the water on?

Do they always do the Electric Water Pageant? We ended up seeing the back side of it while on a boat from Poly to MK and would love to see it from the beach area at the Poly.

I read that you can see Wishes from Poly. Can you hear music, too?

Any thoughts or suggestions for making my first Poly stay a good one will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We stayed in Fiji in a garden view room and had a view of the marina, beach and Contemporary Resort. It was a beautiful view and very quiet and close to the Great Ceremonial House. We could also view the EWP from our balcony. The EWP does go by the Poly each night and you can view Wishes from the beach. We were on the beach just outside the pool area and could hear the music that is piped in.

It is very possible to get a garden view room close to the GCH (great ceremonial house). Garden view simply means the view will be of the lush landscaped grounds. Lagoon view will be looking toward Cinderella's castle, but may be partially obstucted by palm trees. Magic Kingdom view means a clear view of Cindy's castle. Then there are concierge garden and lagoon views. The Poly is awesome, you can see wishes wonderfully from the beach if you reserve a garden view room. I believe they pipe the music in too. The electric water parade goes by every night. Enjoy!

here is the beach you can watch wishes clearly from:

We had garden view in Tokelau, which i loved, it was central to everything, quick walk to the vocano pool, beach, gch.....and ttc.......
the elec boat parade comes by every night, and we could hear music piped in for wishes, and the week we were there we also saw the holiday wishes and heard that music as well.
we LOVE The Poly and prob won't stay anywhere else! You will love it!

Wow, thanks everyone! You've all made me even more excited about staying there. Hey, I think I might be too excited to sleep! :goodvibes Thanks for all the great answers!

I too am a newbie to the Poly, has anyone used the Neverland Club. My girls will be 6 & 12 on our trip.

We stayed there last year. Watched Wishes from the beach. We stayed in Tahiti which is a VERY short walk to the TTC where you can catch a boat to MK, monorail to Epcot or you can walk to the front for the monorail to MK.

Raratonga and Niue are the closest buildings to the Great Ceremonial House where the monorail station is located along with the stores and restaurants. Tonga is also close; it is a Concerige building.

I personally like Samoa, because of it's close proximity to the Volcano Pool and is a very short walk to the GCH, if you have very small children who need a mid day nap, ask for a room not facing the pool.

All of the above metioned buildings have rooms with garden views.

The watercraft are very easy to rent, just walk on over to the Marina. The boats (watermice) are very fun.

Fireworks music is piped in at the beach and also the Hawaii Concierge lounge. Of course the fireworks are designed to be viewed from Main Street, but it is also fun to view them in a more relaxed setting.

Tahiti is the farthest building from main building GCH, but the closest to the TTC. It is quite a hike to the main building from Tahiti.

I've used the Neverland Club for my DD8 several times. She LOVES it and usually goes at least 2x each time we go to Disney.

About garden view rooms, I've stayed in Samoa garden view (okay, well the volcano pool view) and it was about 30 seconds for us to get to the GCH from our room. EWP runs every night and starts from the Polynesian. As for Wishes, they do pipe in the music into 'Ohana for the fireworks. We were fortunate enough to see the Christmas Wishes fireworks when we had dinner there on Christmas.

The Poly is :cloud9: . Can't wait to get back there next Christmas.

Looks like all your questions have been answerd, so all I have left to say is "welcome to the club of those in love with the Poly!" There is no going back now!!!:lovestruc

Thanks again everyone! You are all the best! :)

I guess we'll see what section we end up in, but I'm sure whatever it is, it'll be great! I'm not worried about there being a long walk from one building to the next or to TTC because it'll be me and my DD18, no toddlers or strollers or anything like that. Plus, we stayed at SOG in December and walked to the Poly to use the boat and monorail every day and I'm sure that's got to be a longer distance than the buildings within the Poly area itself, right? Even SOG to Poly wasn't bad at all -- we could do it easily in about 12 minutes. It'll no doubt be much hotter in August, so I'm looking forward to the tropical feel of the Poly. It reminded me a lot of living in Hawai'i and I think it's a simply beautiful resort. I just have to stay there! :goodvibes Thanks again!

Remember, even if it is a couple of minutes to walk, it is a BEAUTIFUL couple of minutes!

My family and I had a Lagoon view in the Hawaii Longhouse and we got a clear shot of Cinderella's Castle to watch Wishes and the Electrical Light Parade. Since the Hawaii Longhouse is the closest or one of the closest buildings to the beach maybe that is why we could hear the music coming from the Magic Kingdom, however it would also mean that if you were to walk on the beach to watch Wishes you would have no problems hearing the music.

Tahiti has almost the same exact view! And a "private" beach.
