Poly-lagoon view vs. concierge

Do lagoon view rooms and concierge garden view rooms cost the same? Which would you prefer? Thanks.

From my recent research I have deduced that if you are on the dining plan the lagoon view is better. Of course there is a lot of personal preference involved in the answer to the question.

I think any concierge rooms would cost more than a lagoon view room.

I'd prefer the lagoon view room, with or without the dining plan. I don't see the value in paying so much extra for a room that basically just lets you get some snacks and sodas, and an area to hang out separately from non-concierge people.

- You're already paying for a hang-out when you book the Poly in the first place. I see no need, personally, to separate myself further from other paying Poly guests. A resort room is all the separation I need.

- For the price of a refillable mug, you can get all the soda you want.

- For the price of the dining plan, you get enough food to feed a horse.

It really depends on what's important to you. The thing with booking a LV is that it depends on which building you are in. Some views are much more spectacular than others. I think Tahiti is pretty amazing, although farthest from the GCH. We had the great fortune of being upgraded last Feb to LVC, and I tell you, it was AWESOME!! I felt it was much more than a few snacks and sodas. We really felt taken care of. Anything we needed, the CM's were happy to accomodate us. It's so convienient for breakfast; really nice cut-up fruit, cereal, oatmeal, pastry (OMG, pineapple bread!). Coming back in the afternoon we could grab snacks, a beer, etc. So nice to grab an amaretto and sit on the beach to watch Wishes (which we could also see perfectly from our room). When we go in April 2008 we are just staying GV, due to $$, but it was really nice! If the budget allows, I'd say go for it.

No one can really answer this for you. It is soooo up to your personal preferences.

We enjoy staying in the concierge - and it ISN'T to be separated from other 'paying Poly guests' - it is simply for convenience! We like being able to go eat breakfast in the same building - leaving our kids sleeping (they are all above the age of 12) while we go down for breakfast - or letting them go down at their leisure without us having to worry about them. We also like the location and the help from the IPO staff is invaluable at times. We have stayed almost exclusively at the Poly concierge for the past several visits and have enjoyed each time. My kids really look forward to seeing Chef Dick there, too! They sometimes will pass up going to the park to watch him work! HA!

Depending on when we go, we utilize concierge more than others. We just returned Sunday from a stay there and this time we REALLY used concierge a lot. It was so hot, we spent a lot more time at the hotel and being the concierge building made that very nice. The proximity to the pool was great....to BOTH pools actually. And for the first time, also due to the heat, frequently, the evening hors d'oeuvres were about all hubby and I wanted if we had eaten a big lunch in the parks. The kids of course, ran over to Captain Cooks for some quick dinner many nights in addition to the concierge offerings. Never did we think you could substitute those little goodies for dinner, but the heat really took away our appetite this time.

A lagoon view with a view of the castle is GREAT!!! I would want it to be a view of the MK, not just the lagoon though.

Hopefully, you can experience both sometime and decide which works better for your family.

We have never done the dining as it has always seemed overkill for us. Just too much food, but evidently many are using it these days and find it very helpful. We just don't always eat that much and sometimes share meals at table service places depending on what else we have done that day!

So...as I said, it is really up to your personal preference and I doubt for MOST people - it is about being separated from other guests.....guess that is just a plus! HA!!! j/k

The lagoon view rooms and the GV concierge rooms used to be very similarly priced. I believe there was a minimally higher price for the GV concierge rooms under the old pricing structure--perhaps $10-20 p/night difference. I have not checked the difference between the two categories since the new pricing structure was put into place.

I prefer the concierge service.
