Poly in Nov. with no hot tub/spa!!!!!

The Swan/Dolphin main pool has a sign at their hot tubs that say they should not be used by children under 12.

Disney's hot tubs don't say this. At AKL last month I did see a father bring in a baby. Maybe okay if they didn't stay long, but the kid wasn't even wearing a swim diaper.

I think making it a rule to be 18 or older is a little much. Maybe 12 or 13.

At our local YMCA, the rule is no one under 6, and 6-12 must be supervised by parent.

My kids really enjoy the hot tubs, but I am with them the whole time. I make sure they don't carry on or anything. Actually, they are more well behaved then some adults I've seen.........or should I say "heard". Some of the language. Yikes!! And can we say, uhhhh.....a little too tipsy?;) But I agree, I have seen some pretty roudy children around the hot tub. Like I seem to say a lot....a little common courtesy goes a long way. :D

I'm glad I won't have to worry about it this time, though. We will have our own private jacuzzi. I can't wait. :)

I have never stayed at the Poly either due to the lack of a hot tub. We are like the other poster...we enjoy a sit in the hot tub after trekking around the parks all day long. I know Disney tends well to their hot tubs as I have watched them at very early hours before no one is in them yet. Their tubs are up to par chemically.

I guess there will be all kinds of room at the SAB one for me and my boys after reading this thread....all I can say is thanks :teeth:
We sure do appreciate the space folks.

Esmerelda:teeth:

Seems to me there are more important reasons to keep children out of hot tubs. I found this on the MayoClinic site:

"Children should stay out of hot tubs and spas until they are tall enough to keep their heads completely out of the water with their feet firmly touching bottom. Youngsters can quickly get overheated in hot tubs, so their visits should be kept brief. No one, adult or child, should ever submerge his or her head in a hot tub or spa. Because the temperature encourages the growth of certain microorganisms, an earful of water from a hot tub or spa can lead to an external ear infection. Far worse, long hair, which fans out when the head is submerged, can get caught in a spa or hot tub grate and cause drowning. "

My pediatrician has always advised me not to let my kids in any commercial/hotel hot tub - you don't know if the temperature reading is accurate or how much bacteria is in the water. Small children's skin is much more sensitive than an adult's and their body temperature can rise very quickly.

Wouldn't it be great if this thread stayed on-topic instead of degenerating into caustic comments directed to other posters?

My kids (17 and 14) enjoy the hot tubs. How do you know I'm not around to watch my "little darlings"? Isn't it enough that I'm in the pool or on a lounge chair?

Kids in WDW hot tub - imagine that!

REALLY!! You said it! I swear there's a lot of people that don't like kids very much that go to WDW. I don't get it. People are WAY to uptight sometimes. Give me a break. If you don't want to be anywhere kids in a hot tub, then consider going somewhere other than WDW of all places! KIDS ARE PEOPLE TOO. Some adults annoy me WAY more than kids do.

Lets try to keep the posts civil. I think most people wouldn't have a problem with kids in the hot tub as long as they were supervised by their parents.

I think the OP's question has been answered so lets move on to another topic.

I was going to write about the bed size question---is that okay?

Queen size beds at Poly in a standard room with a daybed. Good luck!!

Yeah no hot tub at Poly is a bummer ... swam in Feb at night at Poly, water was nice and warm but the air was a killer making the swim no fun, wouldnt do this again! I dont understand why they cant splurge for a hot tub or 2 there ...

I let my kids go in the hot tub, they are well behaved especially when there's strangers around them. My daughter and I usually just sit on the steps and when we see someone wants to get in, we give way. I don't like soaking my whole body in the hot water, but I can tolerate being half in the tub. We usually stay for 10-15 minutes, then we get out of the tub to rest our body, then later, we go back in.

I like my pool really warm like about 85. It's no fun when you "BRRRRRrrrrr". I want to be able to just go in the pool without shivering. With my kids, they can enjoy the pool at any temp.

I would hate for Disney to post a sign that says "No kids allowed" in the hot tub cause my kids do also enjoy the bubbles.

Poly doesn't have a hot tub, so I don't think I would want to stay there, not unless the temp outside is over 95 and sunny. This will warm the water a little bit.

My oldest(10 in 24 days!!)loves to sit in the hot tub with me, but he does just that, SIT in the hot tub. He's a big boy(110 lbs, just 6-8 inches shorter than me at 5'3)so he's "safe" to be in there. He too, likes to relax in the bubbles.

But, I can understand what some of the other posters were referring too, that is if I"m right LOL, like when we were at Disneyland Hotel last month, my son and I were relaxing in the hot tub and going back over our day and BAM! SPLASH! A couple of boys around my son's age decided to play "let's run and jump into the hot tub and see how many people we can splash" That, I do not care for. I have no idea where their parents were, but these boys were running all over the pool area, jumping in the hot tub and then "swimming" in the hot tub(going under water with their goggles on) That was not fun or relaxing!
