Poly Housekeeping Disappointing

We stayed at the Poly July 2010, our room was very clean upon check in. Our mousekeepers did a fantastic job during our stay at well, keeping everything clean and tidy. DD's stuffed animals were always arranged in a cute way, watching TV, looking out the patio or playing on the bed.

I'm sorry that you did not have a good experience with mousekeeping this time. We always expect a clean room and would not be happy with what you experienced.

Of all the things at Disney housekeeping to me is the the thing I have issues with the most.
I had a trip at the poly where a crib was right outside the door of my room for like 3 days with soiled linen in it. I had to keep calling and ask them to take it. Ugh...

I also feel that with the number of people that have stated above that they had complained to Poly management in the past, it should not continue to be an issue. Disney hotels, especially deluxe hotels, should have immaculate accomadations. I understand that issues arise with Mousekeeping however, if this issue was truly being addressed appropriately as a complaint was made to management, it would not continue to be an issue. Instead, I think contacting the GM fixes your initial problem. They need to ensure that everyone has a clean room that exceeds expectations regardless of lake view, theme park or garden view. Oh and I am very jealous of people who got special towel animals or cute arranged stuffed animals. Our bedspreads were wrinkly along with our other list of issues - stuffed animals were usually on the desk in a pile.

I guess they figure if you drink the in-room coffee, you are not the fussy. JK. I finally convinced my wife to stay at the Poly after years of her saying it was not worth it, and considering we enjoy the restaurants and pools when our family stays, she did not think it was worth staying in a room. So I was happy to finally get a stay for my birthday. It was not good and mousekeeping did a terrible job. I'll never get her back now and to be honest, I don't want to stay there anymore. I doubt I'll ever get her to any other place either. The rooms were dirty and things just were never cleaned. After one time and I call to complain, I expect I should not have to call every day. I don't care about the sheets being changed every day cause I don't do that at home. But I expect a clean room when I arrive. If my kids make a mess, I clean it, but please just make sure it is clean when I arrive and that I get all the towels back every day. I have to say, we almost always stay off site and the amenties are always better. The only thing about staying that was a plus is the atmosphere of being on site, and as amazing as it was, it is difficult to justify the expense. But as long as they fill the rooms at the ridiculous prices, there is not real reason to make mousekeeping better.

Well if no one is formally making a complaint it will never be corrected. You can't expect it to be corrected until it's a problem for management and that can only be done by taking the time to discuss it with management.

I will never understand why people in any hotel (Disney or not Disney) will say "I didn't complain" or "it is all about location". Why on earth would you pay for something that you did not recieve? It is not something extra or special -you should expect and demand a clean room! Why did you put up with dust and spilled drinks or anything besides a clean room.

In response to the above poster, I guess the issue at hand is not that I didn't complain, it is that when you are staying at a deluxe hotel and the cost is $500 plus a night, you should receive a clean room with fresh towels and amenities. We called to complain that we didn't receive clean towels, coffee and that the room was dusty but apparentley didn't complain to right people. We simply were calling the housekeeping on the phone - almost daily to have our requests fulfilled. After reading pages of responses to this, and seeing that so many others haved complained, it seems that it doesn't matter - that the mousekeeping is sub-par and perhaps we should stay offsite in the future.

Its too bad that rooms not being cleaned continues to be an issue. It always was and always will be.

But, while I certainly dont question anyones claims about rooms being cleaned (trust me, in all our years going to WDW..we have had our fair share of complaints), I always read them knowing....the negatives always outweigh the positives in regards to people posting.

Most of the time, a positive trip experience does not get posted..BUT a negative seems to get posted 99.9999% of the time.

We are staying at the Poly for 13 nights--8/12 to 8/25. We anticipate everyting to be to our liking...if not, we will take the steps needed to ensure that things are / will be corrected.

While I would never question anyones negative experience at a resort, we would never, repeat NEVER switch resorts based on what is written on these boards.

We are going back to the Poly in Nov. for the first time in over 20 years and I have seen SO many posts about horrible housekeeping that I am a little freaked out. My parents are going with us and my dad prefers the GF and we have never had issues there (although I know people complain about that too). I'm just hoping most people are pickier than we are, although some of these posts are downright frightening.

I realize if things aren't too our liking, we will complain and hopefully the situation will be rectified. Just hoping we don't have to go there.

I can't even remember all the crap I've found in WDW rooms over the years.

Other people's:

.Jewelry, some in safe, some not
.Clothes
.Bathing suit, swim goggles
.Excrement, blood
.Day Timer with credit cards and checkbook that three people, including the Housekeeping Mgr., had checked the room for, supposedly
.food items, some half-eaten
.a bathtub approximately 1/4 full of dirty water with dirty stuff in it
.used refillable mug kinda stuffed back in its plastic wrapper

...and I don't know what else. I've found it in club level "deluxe" rooms With a view, value rooms with no view and everything in between, including the villas.

I long ago gave up mentioning it to anyone except to turn in stuff I find.

Hotels are supposed to have housekeeping managers that routinely check rooms. Other managers should be spot-checking now and again.

THERE IS a system in place to let them know if things are being done correctly or not.

MANAGEMENT IS AWARE that there are problems.
