I'm new to this board and new to Disney too (been twice, last was Dixie Landings, 2000) so my questions are pretty general.

I did some research, checking out Tikiman's site and mousesavers.com. I tried calling the Central Reservations office and it took forever. I read that for October a garden view concierge room would be around $440, but was quoted $1900 for 3 nights! I also tried Expedia and got good rates for other rooms but not this one. Any ideas about booking?

Also, I read posts in that say "I went with DS and DH ..." but what does that mean?

I should add that when I called the CRO I specifically told them "room only," but maybe there was a mistake and they priced it with park passes?

Looks more like they gave you a lagoon view quote for concierge in October. That price would be about right when you include the 11.5% (or is it now 12%?) tax.

You said you've visited Mousesavers. . .did you find any discount options that would apply to your visit? I haven't kept track of what might be available for October. Perhaps there's nothing out yet (other than Disney Club or AAA). If not, you can book at rack rate and switch to a lowered rate should one become available. Perhaps garden view is sold out and lagoon view is all that is available at Polynesian for your dates.

As I said, I've not been watching for October discounts (Fairy Tale Package, AP, DC, or other general code rates)--my guess is, those rates aren't yet available. Discounted rates could be released soon though--so keep checking Mary's site and watch for posts here, too. Otherwise, book what you are willing to pay now and hope for a discount later that will allow you to upgrade.

Capt, welcome to a whole new world of abbreviations!

The short answer is the D is for Dear (or Darling, or sometimes Disney); H for husband; Wife, Son, Daughter, Fiance(e), etc.

The more helpful answer is this Abbreviations Link . After a while, you'll be asking about getting from DD to MK via the TTC for your PS at LTT before MNSSHP!

Thank you for your helpful replies. Tess -- I asked what view it was and she said lagoon view couldn't be guaranteed. She also said something about "rooms not being released yet." I was wondering about reserving now and upgrading later and I think that's what I'll do. I think you are probably right about rates changing too, because from what I could tell even summer rates are less than October and I don't think that's the case if I wait a little.

Dr -- wow! that explains things. I guess I missed the abbreviations page but now things are making more sense.

Lagoon view is guaranteed if that's what you book at the Polynesian. It sounds like you had a new CM.
