Which would you do? Poly garden view concierge level or lagoon view, no concierge? The rates are just about the same. (Is concierge worth it? I've read the posts on it, but don't know if an extra $95 a day is worth a mini buffet, etc. Would you spend the money on a good view or the concierge level? Thanks!

Hi,

I have never stayed in a concierge room, so I can't exactly help you there. But I did want to say that I don't think ANYTHING could beat a lagoon view room. Nothing can compare to watching fireworks and the electric water pageant from your balcony and seeing the castle all lit up at night from your bed.

Have fun!

GV concierge, no question--it's a convenience issue for us at this stage of the game. Having that breakfast ready and waiting in the a.m. gets us out the door PDQ! Love the bottled water, sodas, juice, etc. in the afternoon and for the parks. A free fridge is a nice perk, too!

We've stayed in the building f/k/a Moorea (n/k/a Tahiti) and had a 2nd floor LV--yeah, it was nice since the kids were little and we were in our room early. We've also done LV concierge--it, too was nice but our kids were older and we weren't in our rooms enough.

Frankly, the view from the concierge lounge AND the beach is better and I don't leave my curtains open at night to watch the Castle color show anyway. :D

Guess it's a matter of preference--how important is a view to you--for us, with our older kids we're gone early in the a.m. and busy doing other things until later in the evening--the importance of the view went down as they aged.

For the minimal price difference (I know in regular season it's about $5 per night), I'd get the GV concierge.

GV concierge for me too. Tess has put all of my thoughts into words. We loved the convenience, quick breakfast, snacks all day, fridge in the room, free stroller and on and on...

We didn't get to look at the castle while lying in bed, but we did take desserts to the beach and lounged in the hammock. And I'm not sure what time of year you're going, but when it's hot, that FREE unlimited water comes in very handy!

Have fun whatever you decide. We love the Poly.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :

This is a tough call, but I would lean towards concierge as well. You need to look at the true "incremental" cost however (I'm an accountant by trade, so bear with me!)

By far the most convenient meal and aspect of the lounge is breakfast (in my opinion). For a family of four, you would be spending an absolute minimum of $5.00 per person per day for breakfast - at least $20 in other words, and probably more. This assumes that you aren't planning on hauling in a cooler or renting a fridge and stocking. Factor in the time and convenience of not having to run around arranging breakfast every day, and you have some additional savings there as well. Plus, the unlimited water and soda will save you $2.50 per drink minimum in the theme parks (assuming you don't mind bringing several with you). In addition, you can make a meal out of the evening snack set up if you so desire. So depending upon how you utilize the lounge, you could be looking at a "break even" in terms of the extra room cost.

This doesn't even bring in the convenience of having an on hand staff to help with your other plans. The lounge itself is also a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the parks and affords terrific views of the other resorts and the Magic Kingdom.

The underlying question would be which is more important: the view of the convience. My personal choice would be the conveninece as the additional cost is a break even in my opinion.

Good luck! What a great dilemma to have!

I keep reading about the free fridge for concierge guests at the Polynesian-- is this in your room? Same as the mini-bar or different? Is this a standard concierge perk or just at the Polynesian?

The Polynesian is on our short list of resorts for our next trip and I have also wondered about the LV v. GV conierge issue.

I agree with Tess and others. Gardenview concierge for sure.

We did it for the first time in april and loved it. Could still watch the fireworks from the concierge lounge which has the best view ever, or sit on the beach lounges, we did both.

We had a ground floor with a bit of a garden in front, which made it possible for a couple of ducks to visit us every day, use their beaks and kind of knock at our sliding door for some bread scraps that we brought from the grocery store. So cute.

After breakfast the oranges, apples, bananas, pears, fresh baked cookies and gummie worms, in the afternoon and the numerous juices, bottled water, sodas, coffee etc, was great for my family of four, to snack on

The food at 5.p.m. were things like chicken wings, chicken lo mein, tacos, grilled chicken breasts, even turkey sandwiches or peanut butter sandwiches, on the kids table, fresh bowl of cut up fruit every night, fresh platter of cut up veges and dip, and usually crackers and cheese.

I am a medium eater (trying not to gain any weight on this trip though) it was great I did not bother with anything else for supper. The rest of my family was quite happy with the offerings as well. We were four adults.

If we could afford it I would definitely do it again, I think it saved alot of time and was very convenient for our family of four, We love the polynesian resort.

thanks, everyone :)

Now I'm leaning towards the concierge garden view...I figure we won't spend a lot of time in our room anyway. For the same amont of $, perhaps the concierge gv room would be the better way to go (compared to a lagoon view, no concierge). Either way, it' s a lot of money! :)

<sigh>
