:dog2: Read the board for a year, but this is my first post. Got call from CM to last week, who upgraded my 5 days at CR to the Poly for same price. Don't know whether to keep all 5 days at Poly or split stay with Swan for better price. Never been to either resort. Opinions please?

I would stay at the Poly for the entire stay, though I've never stayed at the Swan. For a short trip, I wouldn't care to split my stay and spend time packing/unpacking. But that's just me. In fact, we're going to the Poly next month for 5 days.

The Poly is a great resort. We really like being on the monorail, the atmosphere is so relaxing around the grounds, and the landscaping is beautiful.

Is this your first trip?

short stay, stay at Poly!! Monorail plus room charging privilidges are very worth it and with so little time location is a plus!! IMO

Not sure from the info your giving. If you had a std. garden room then you had a decient price at CR? might be a GREAT price for the Poly? But if you where cr tower, it might not be worth it? Anything from $240.00 and down is a decient price that would be about what a Annual pass rate might get if they got lucky. This is for a garden view room at the poly. If your rate is higher its not too much of a bargin. Poly rooms GV are around 315.00, rack rate. And I would decide on what you can afford. If you getting a great rate, it could be a once in a life time deal so I personally would jump on it, we love the poly.

The swan, I personally do not care for. However; if this is the only way for me to stay that close to disney I will suffer through the swan. ;) But it would not be my 1st choice. We had a bad experince here in 04' and the front desk was less than helpful. :confused3 Room overall was ok, not what I expected, many suits around when we where there. pool is farther away. Of the 2, I would pick the dolphin, has more resturants, closer to pool, has better shops, and laundry. (Bigger)

This is my first trip to the Poly. Heard so many great things about it. I'm lucky that the CR is having construction. I guess that they are moving some people to other hotels. Thanks for your help.

We have stayed at both and we're from Long Island too!! We have a family of 5, but as you can see from my tag it would probably be the Polynesian hands down unless you are looking to save a ton of money and you haven't said what the price savings would be. Also to consider: ages of those in your family, what parks you will be spending most of your time at etc. We have 3 teen ds and spent april in the poly and now in nov/dec. we are at the swan, my dh has a conference and I am only spending the rest of the time at the swan because we got a great mousefest rate of $129, a night. So cost was a factor to me this time.
Here are the positivies:
Polynesian: On monorail line, can go to other monorail restraunts etc.
Wishes and the ELP from the beach
Water craft rental etc. right there
Volcano pool
Neverland Club onsite if you need that
Captain Cooks for quick snacks

Swan:
Heavenly Beds, just love them
You get starwood points
First bus stop, close to epcot, mgm, Boardwalk dining/entertainment options
Grotto pool, beach volleyball, basketball etc.

Things minus about the Swan:
No charging back to the room
Not disney themed
Extra charge for roll away for 5th person, $25 per night, we are bringing an aerobed this time.
Hard to do the mug refills, We solved this by stopping at the hess mini mart and buying some soda packs
Snacks are at tubbis at the dolphin as well as the laundry facilities

Good luck deciding.

i don't know if you were signed up for ME or the dining plan, but staying at Swan would cancel those out because Swan is not Disney owned. So if you stayed 3 nights at Poly and 2 at Swan you would only get 3 days worth of dining plan. I don't know how it would work with ME. Maybe you'd only get it one way?
Some more food for thought. This was the reason I went with CBR and not Swan for the last trip.
