Poly DVC expansion coming 2024!

Agree. I would argue Poly, WL, AKL, VGC, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Contemporary, Reflections, even VGF look like they were designed by Imagineers. Riviera (at least the exterior), DLT, and this rendering, not so much. I don't hate the look of the new Poly building, but there's no denying the trend is toward more standard looking exteriors on hotel buildings.
I'm not sure why the exterior of Boardwalk or Beach Club are anything special and unique.

None of those are towers. Add in BLT, and the argument suffers. Look at Riviera and Aulani. Aside from the rooflines at both, and some VERY subtle design elements on the facades at Aulani, there is nothing drastic about the architecture of the tower elements of either resort. There are limits that come with the old adage about form following function.

It's not really a stretch at all. This release, along with other recent DVC activity, makes it seem pretty likely this will fold under the existing association. It's implied to the point that making it a stand-alone would almost seem like a bait and switch at this point.

Plus, I don't think DVC is ready to deal with the re-sale restrictions question that would come with an entirely new resort. Just my opinion, but I think that was big factor in deciding not to move forward with Reflections. They have to fix that gorilla-in-the-room before any new associations come on board.
Exactly this. The new Resort will be part of the existing Poly DVC for this reason. Disney is going to kick the question on resale restrictions on new resort down the road. Why decide on the future of the restrictions when you do not have to. The current RIV owners are not pitching a fit, so keep them on this resort. But now this will be the second add on where the restriction will not be in place. Any new DVC resort will not be built to after 2024. Brilliant move by DVC management.

won't they be forced to make a decision with DLT?

The press release language strongly implies that this won't be the case.

But they didn’t say it would be like they did from the initial announcement with VGF2.

It leads me to believe that it’s not yet 100% decided and they are going to give themselves time to decide or change course before more specifics are revealed.

New build could go either way. It could also be intentional to push people direct just in case because now you do have a future DVC resort possibility.

And I think it will be. It will be subtle, appropriate to the mass of the building, and will develop over time as the design tams and Imagineering move forward.

Hoping you're right! I'm super excited about it and think it will be amazing either way,

Good point

They can sell it for "full price" but no one really questions them on it. Plus its not Disney's issue if you can't book the rooms at the new or old building if you bought in for those.

If Disney released a new building with on 40-45 years left they would likely get criticised so this is a good work around. Does that mean we see the rest of Wilderness or another area at Wilderness Lodge get built after this? Wilderness is also very popular.
Probably depends on the popularity of the remaining hotel side of the Lodge. I think it was low occupancy rates in the hotel that caused the CCV conversion.

An infinity pool was mentioned. Any chance of a lazy river?

It was not mentioned alongside the pool verbiage, and it certainly would have been noteworthy if they were planning on it. Plus, given the limitations of space there, I would think this would be an either/or proposition in terms of pool vs. lazy river. I would have voted for the river.

When Copper Creek came out, they called it "Copper Creek." They didn't call it "Wilderness Lodge."

But they didn’t have resale restrictions then either. As I said, the fact it was missing from the announcement when it was not for VGF, to me is more puzzling than not because they made a point of it when announcing VGF.

That stinks never got there and was looking forward to taking the kids there eventually. Next they will say Hoop De Doo is going forever and continue the trend of eliminating unique aspects of Disney World.
Disney have done you a big favor….awful show.
