Poly DVC expansion coming 2024!

I can't imagine them opening this and saying "sorry current Poly owners, you can't stay here."

Doesn't make sense.

I mean that's what they did for CCV. But maybe they think it's better to sell contracts that already has eight years taken off. I sure think they can sell it. Less time on the contract is good for Disney.

Maybe matching BR's expiration would have been smarter, since they matched the chart anyway.

Right, says nothing about new or same association. All it says is what poly is today

doing some major reading between the lines crossing toes and fingers there

but I do think we found the next holy war. New association or same

im Betting new
It's not really a stretch at all. This release, along with other recent DVC activity, makes it seem pretty likely this will fold under the existing association. It's implied to the point that making it a stand-alone would almost seem like a bait and switch at this point.

Plus, I don't think DVC is ready to deal with the re-sale restrictions question that would come with an entirely new resort. Just my opinion, but I think that was big factor in deciding not to move forward with Reflections. They have to fix that gorilla-in-the-room before any new associations come on board.

Universal will dominate over Disney. I wonder how many people stay at disney but head to universal.
Will this be opposite of VGF with a good balance of 1BR/2BR? Or more of the studio heavy studio only DVC? What about being separate or combined with Poly? Seems like it might be part of POLY since it would be about the same length when released.
The original Poly DVC included future plans for a larger development with 1/2/3 beds so hopefully this is it

Matching BR's expiration would have cut the product's worth in half. There's still plenty of time left on that PVB association to fold it in without anyone caring.

I agree, and I hope you’re right. That would be a pretty big uproar if they decided to add it as a new DVC property. Not even thinking about resale people like myself, I’d be furious if I bought at Poly direct in 2015 and now just 9 years later, my points don’t get me into the newest addition to the property with the 11 month booking window.

To Disney, CCV's problem was that it locked in a legacy chart and gave 50 years locked in. The exception was the cabins, which are definitely point hogs. Poly expansion allows a brand new chart for room categories that don't currently exist, and it's a 42 year contract. Nobody will even miss those 8 years. It's perfect.

Good point

They can sell it for "full price" but no one really questions them on it. Plus its not Disney's issue if you can't book the rooms at the new or old building if you bought in for those.

If Disney released a new building with on 40-45 years left they would likely get criticised so this is a good work around. Does that mean we see the rest of Wilderness or another area at Wilderness Lodge get built after this? Wilderness is also very popular.

I bet they will tag it onto the existing association. The Floridian expansion is a huge hit and it doesn't seem like many people mind the fact that you aren't getting 50 years.

If this is same condo association with no resale restrictions, I think that is a pretty good sign we will see them changed moving forward, even at RIV.
This was my first thought! Surely they would not add a second "new" property after RIV with no resale restrictions and still keep the restrictions in place at RIV!

Sounds like DVC is targeting contract end dates that are 40+ for flip/new build.

I agree, BRV & CCV is apples to oranges to GFV1&2 and PVB1&2

VGF isn't even on sale to the public yet! They could have waited a couple weeks and announced this when VGF went on sale to the public.

To me, this fast of an announcement shows no one missed 8 years on VGF, and no one will miss 8 years on Poly. And maybe that VGF was underpriced? Or is that wishful thinking?

Following this pattern, the next DVC property will be a cheap WL flip under the CCV association, 8 years missing. But that CCV chart is a problem, so maybe not.

This is AWESOME news for the O14. When I bought in the cheap resale seats, I never thought properties this awesome would be added to the Blue Card options.

But they didn't say Poly. They said "Polynesian Villas and Bungalows", which is the name of the current association.

Yes, the marketing department described what's currently there. You could also look at what it's lacking....it doesn't say "This new development will add to the existing...."

I don't think anyone misses the 8 years. The vast majority of people don't have the kids or the income to do DVC until their 30s, and I don't think any of them care very much that DVC won't last them into their 80s.

The points chart at CCV is the main reason that I don't envision an expansion there. By 2042, CCV studios will become the new Boardwalk Standard View studio. Everyone will want to book them but you'll have to own there to get one.

I think this is exciting news! VGF is too stuffy for me but I’ve been wanting to add on either at Riviera or Polynesian.

I would LOVE to have direct points at the poly that allow me to stay at Riviera.I really hope it’s the same association.
