We have booked a handicapped accessible room at the Poly for a week starting 9/26/09. When I reviewed the longhouses, none of the handicapped accessible rooms have a good view. DH is a paraplegic who will spend a good bit of time in the room. We are travelling with another family that does not need an handicapped accessible room. They would like the best view possible for the money of course. Combined we have three girls ages 4, 4, and 2. We are considering switching resorts to try to have a shot at a better view.

Has anyone had a good view froom a handicapped room at any of the monorail resorts. If so can you tell me the resort and approx. the room number.

Also any recs on which is the best for my husband's needs?

Thanks!

The only hotel I think you could guarantee yourself a great view is the Contemporary. The rooms (accessible and non accessible) in the tower all face either bay lake or the MK.

At the end of October we're doing a split stay between the CR and the GF with my mom who's in a wheelchair. I booked Club level (with the 40% discount offered on the WDW site) so that if she wasn't up to the parks, she would have a place to relax outside of the room, snacks and drinks easily available and someone to contact if there was anything she needed.

My DH and I are partial to the Polynesian. If we have a choice upon arrival, we would rather be in Nuie. It is a stone's throw from the Grand Ceremonial House and the volcano pool. The view isn't of the Magic Kingdom, but we're not ones to pay for that. We just like the ambiance of the plants, etc.

We've stayed at the Poly in Rapa Nui as well in a beautiful accessible room with roll in shower, door opener, etc. The thing I wanted to mention is that the gardens are so beautiful that sometimes that is even lovelier than an MK view :) Especially if you can get a ground floor room (we did!) with a patio :)

You are correct that you'd be in Rapa Nuie if you need a roll-in shower. It's the farthest building from the GCH but the closest to the TTC for monorail access also. The ambience at the Poly is wonderful, but I prefer not to have to leave a main building in case of rain. If raining, it would be a long hike to get to/from your room in that building. Perhaps the Contemporary or even BLT's would be a good choice unless you want to splurge on Club level at the GF in their main building. GF has two club levels- one is in the Main Bldg and one is in Sugarloaf, which is an outlying bldg. No matter which resort you choose, I hope you have a wonderful vacation!---Kathy

We're heading to the Poly for our 3rd stay there. We require a room with a roll-in shower. The 1st time, we were in Rapa Nui (closer to the TTC). The 2nd time, we were in Nuie (closer to the Grand Ceremonial House). We prefer Nuie of the two, since it is closest to "everything".
