Thanks to all of you on the boards. I've been lurking and gathering information for a long time, and finally decided to post.

I booked Poly concierge garden view way back in February. Got a great deal on the rates when the codes came out and ended up with a really good rate.

When we checked in, the CM mentioned that our room was facing the castle!! I was stunned! We ended up in room 3517 and could watch the fireworks and electric water pageant from our balcony.

We made use of the concierge lounge frequently. I highly recommend it for anyone travelling with a young child (DS is 5). It was great to grab a quick breakfast on the way out to the parks or a snack in the afternoon when we took a break. The food selections were very good and those after dinner cordials were VERY welcome after some long days.

I have seen a lot of posts concerning the condition of the Hawaii building in its pre-rehab state. While it is ready for a redo, it is a perfectly fine place to stay. We didn't notice any smell of smoke on the third floor which is the only floor that allows smoking. There is a slight musty smell in the building, which may bother some people, but we didn't have a problem.

Overall, I was quite pleased with all aspects of the Poly. I can't wait to go back!

Welcome home! Thanks for posting your review. :) I'm glad to hear you had such a nice stay at the Polynesian!

Welcome Back!

Glad you had a nice vacation, thank you for sharing this report. We will be staying at The Polynesian Concierge this Christmas and can't wait!

Thanks Again,

Richard.

Steve, your website was so helpful. Thanks for posting all of the pictures and information.

I am glad it helped.

have a good Thanksgiving.

Aloha

Steve

Glad to hear you had a great trip! I'll be staying garden concierge in 6 days (splitting my stay between Poly garden concierge and YC lagoon concierge), and I'm really looking forward to returning to Poly concierge. They were all so helpful and nice my last trip, and the food in the lounge was delicious. Who knows, maybe I'll get a castle view upgrade too--I'll be happy either way though. :)

Welcome Home!!!:D
Its great the way the Poly can surprise u!!

Glad you gave it a nice review, we are heading there after our stay at the WL next week.

The lounge is someplace we will be frequenting, our 12yo DS eats like a bottomless pit. DD (turnign4 on this trip) gets a kick out of being able to help herself to the snacks in concierge.

Welcome back.

Glad you had a great time. We are booked in April, water view. Do I understand you were upgraded to water view? We are trying to decide what room or floor to “request”. Sounds like your room was perfect for viewing the castle and water. Was your room in the middle of the third floor…..far from elevators? Nice and quiet?

Thanks for any info. You can e-mail direct if you prefer……PJ9509@AOL.COM.

We were upgraded to the lagoon view. I had decided it wasn't worth paying extra for, but now I think it might be. It was certainly quite a surprise.

Our room was second to last on the right side as you look toward the castle. Opposite end of the floor from the elevators. Not much of a walk though. The elevators are just outside the lounge.

I really liked the balcony - keep in mind that the second floor has sliders, but no balcony and the first floor has a walkout patio.

No matter what room you get, I am sure that you will enjoy the Polynesian.

I would be happy to ansewer any other questions.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a balcony is the way to go. What part of Worcester? We are in the Tatnuck area and vacation in Hampton Beach in July.

We were in the room below you--2517 from the 10th through the 16th. Glad to hear you had a great time, too. We sure had a wonderful view, didn't we?

Glad to hear you had a great trip!

We hope to stay there someday soon! At least for a few nights;)

We were in room 3517 last year right before Christmas--it was perfect, an incredible view. I found out when we got back that another DISer requests that particular room every year!

Glad you enjoyed it--so far it's my absolute favorite.

That was not a herd of elephants above you, just a very excited five year old!!!

I'm from the other side of the city - next to Shrewsbury.

I will definitely request 3517 again.

I had no thoughts of wild animals at all, jeanmarie. Although, I have to admit--the first night of our stay, I didn't know about the EWP. My daughter was asleep by 8, and all of a sudden at 9pm, the very loud music started. I think the speaker was right under your balcony--right above ours and it was quite loud. My first thought was "I can't believe that the people above us are playing that music so loudly on their balcony. They better not wake up DD." When I got up to investigate, I sure was surprised to see the dragon etc. outside our window.
:)
