I am not a great writer of trip reports so bare with me.
We had decided to leave a day early and stay at HO JOs at Eastgate so we would be rested from the drive. Our usual 6-8 hour drive ended up being a bit longer with construction on the interstate (75) . After leave the Atlanta area around 4:30 Pm we arrived in Orlando at HOJOs around 2am. Once agan HOJOs isn't the greatest of hotels but is fine for a one nighter. We get up at 11am (we asked for a late check out) and go to IHOP for breakfast. After IHOP and our share of there great pancakes we head off for Disney's Polynesian.
We arrive at the Polynesian around 1pm, tell the parking attendent we are concierge and they load our bags on the golf cart and we are off to Tahiti building. We go up with the bellman to our room on the 3rd fl. Oh no, I notice on the door there is a no smoking room sticker, no ashtray in room. So Dh and I head down to the concierge desk to find out if this is a smoking room or if not is one availble. The concierge person checks our request in the puter and says oh no you are right you did request it and we have you in the wrong rm. So we set there for about 15 mins while she puts in information and ask someone to tell her the rm no# on that side of the floor. Then she tells us we are in rm 2014 now and ask if we want a bellman to help with the luggage. We say no because my DH doesn't want to have to tip again (this is suppose to be a somewhat budget trip). So we go back to the org. rm , get the luggage ,DN helps with luggage while DD stays in room with other luggage. DD had to stay because now our keycards don't work for that door anylonger. We take our luggage down a fl to the wing smoking is suppose to be in, there is no 2014 on that wing. So DN and I are now standing in the hall with luggage while DH goes back once again to find out where our room is. The room doesn't exsist on that wing!
When DH arrives at the concierge desk he has to wait because now the concierge person is helping someone else. The manager was there and asked if he could help DH . DH told him the problem and said he would just wait to talk to concierge person to get right rm no#. I see the manager going into the LV rooms in that wing but don't think anything about it at that time. I go up to the orginal room to check on DD because we have been gone with the luggage on the first trip for about 15-20 mins now. As I pass the concierge desk my DH tells me we are getting a upgrade to LV and tells me he will explain when we get in the room. So DD is ok but wondering what is taking soooo long . I tell her to stay put but we should be back up soon and that there is some confusion to what room we are going to. Picking up another bag I head back down to the 2nd fl. DH is still waiting for new keycard, DN is standing in hall with luggage asking what is taking sooooo long. Finally a few mins later DH comes with new keycards and we are in room 2034 which is across the hall from where we are standing , so at least we don't have to walk very far with the luggage already there. Once in the room DH tells me the story of how we were granted this upgrade to a LV room. Seems like the concierge person that was doing our room was fine until the manager started looking over her shoulder while she was having trouble deleting our second room , she pushes back her chair hard enough to knock off something on the table behind her and exclaimes she can't work with someone looking over her shoulder all the time!
The manager then tells her to put us in room 2034 and she says to him that is on the wrong side of the hall, he tells her again to put us in that room and to see him upstairs when she is done. From that point on everytime the Manager saw my DH he asked how our stay was going etc. By this time I would of been happy with a coat closet just to get settled in and on the start of our vacation!
So we finally get all of our luggage and all of us in our room. It has a clear view of the castle, Space mt, and we can see the people of the TTC clearly as they deboard the ferry. We unpack, make calls to family so they know what room we are in, in case of emergencies . Now we head off to Fantasia mini golf. This is the one thing my DD has wanted to do on every trip and we somehow have put off until the last day and it was raining or something so we never did. Beware of this course with kids you will lose a few balls!
It was a blast though.
We make it back to Tahiti around 4:45. Just in time for evening offerings. They are in the common area of the 3rd fl. That night we had veggie tray w/ dip fruit tray w/ dip cheese tray with crackers and pb&j for the kids. That was it no warm food whatsoever. After the snacks we head out for dinner at Trails End Buffet. The food there was good but wasn't hot at all, it was more like luke warm. We were surprised at the vastness of the lake area. We had not been to this area before and didn't realize how big the waterway is. I am really curious to what that island is too , the one with what looks like a house sturcture on it.
We headed back to the Poly for some swimming , fireworks and water parade. The girls DD and DN changed into swim suits and we were off to the pool. We watched the fireworks and parade from the beach and were back off to the room. We had desserts which were the normal mandian orange tarts, choc moouse, etc and DH and I had some baliey's on ice. The girls had their showers and were off to bed by 11pm. Dh and I soon followed by about 11:30. We left a Mickey wake up for 7am so we better get some rest..........
Day 2 coming up...........
