Poly concierge quetion for those in the know.

By a VERY happy storke of luck, we are going to get to stay at the Poly Concierge this time! GREAT rates with now. Hardly different from regular rooms!

I've completely forgotten about the way it goes. We got to stay in the GF con. last time but that was again, a stroke of luck because the buildings were so hevaily under renovation, they had to upgrade us fo fit us in I think. I never asked WHY, in case it was a mistake!

Anyway, I vaguely remember about getting something sent to us to fill out before hand right? What is it and when should I expect it? Also, I do remember there being a choice between lagoon and garden views but when hubby called he said no choice was given. Was wondering if there was a choice of if you get what you get OR if lagoon was just full?


Should I go ahead and make PS's in advance anyway? Well, for Cindy's BF probably but the rest? Especially if I was early morning breakfasts and early evening dinners? Hearing about people being turned away without PS's is scarey, I'm not risking it.

Since this is my mom's first time and our son's first time to WDW, we are elated it's going to be special beyond our dreams for them but giving them this treat! Well, a 3 year old won't care but my mom, who has NEVER been on a plane to go anywhere for pleasure ( my dad only drove, so we stayed in the upper mid-west), it's is going to be the best ever! I'm SOOOO happy for my mom! I think we're going to keep the upgrade a secret from her and surprise her when we get there. I'm SO bad at secrets that mean good news!

When are you going? The concierge is under construction until the middle of October, so now they are in the another building. There is a choice between gardenview and lagoonview and a big difference in price. You should get a questionaire from concierge about 30 days before your arrival. If you need PS reservations call the hotel and ask for the concierge itinerary planning office and they will be glad to help you.
I just got back from the Polynesian Concierge in August. I preferred the new building it is much bigger but the food area is a little strange. I can't wait until the get back to the other building.

We are staying concierage for the first time in November. I read on another board to expect to get a questionnaire from the staff about 3 months in advance. Since I am a control freak, I contacted the staff at about the 120 day mark and got the questionnaire then. I filled it out, including PSs (a huge step for me), and sent it back in. They made my reservations when the dates became available (120 day and 90 day marks) and sent me a final itinerary.

I have read on a lot of threads about people not getting a copy of their final itinerary before they got there. Tara and Aida had no problem sending mine. They have been fantastic! I think it is all in how you treat them. I also explained to them upfront that I am a control freak and not having this stuff will drive me crazy. I have changed a couple of reservations, added things to be bought beforehand and left in the room for my 2 DSs, and also arranged to have some balloons delivered so I can decorate the room for my DS's birthday surprise. I have actually been so impressed with the staff at the planning office that I wrote a letter to their general manager. It is not often that you meet people who go above and beyond for their guests all the while doing it with a sense of humor!

The renovations on Hawaii are slated to be finished on October 17th with guests starting to stay there on October 18th. In the reply I got from the manager, he did say that they would definitely be back in Hawaii when we arrive. There is a choice of views but depending on when you are going they may be full on the lagoon view.

I am sure that your mom will love the trip and you are so great to surprise her! I know what you mean about keeping secret good surprises. I have about a dozen cooked up for my DSs and it is killing me not to say anything! Have a great time!

That was great info! I think I'll call them right away. We're going early December. DH said the person on the phone said we'd be in Hawaii so they must be on schedule for rennovations. YAY.
I was hoping to have something special in our room when we arrive as a surpise to everyone. Maybe a little fake Christmas tree with mini ornaments on it? Or something, can they hook me up with a way to do something special? I especially want my mom to remember this forever. It might be her only trip. : (

I am sure that Aida and Tara can help you or at least point you in the right direction for the Christmas tree. I have decided to do a lot of little surprises myself but I have also been in contact with Pixie Gifts and also Gifts of a Lifetime. Gifts of a Lifetime seemed a little pricey although the ideas were really neat. Pixe Gifts was more reasonable and Beth, the representative that I have been dealing with, has some great ideas. You might also want to consider the WDW Florist. Depending on how much you want to spend they might have something.

I hope your mom loves her trip! Just spending time with you will make it special for her but make sure to take lots of pictures of her with the characters. Also get her some ears -- everyone needs at least one pair! Have a great time and make sure you fill us all in on the adventures you had.
