Poly concierge - questions - is it worth it for me?

I am trying to find something for the first three nights of my trip, as DVC have no availability.

My favourite resorts are WL and Poly, but I am thinking poly would be more convenient for the first three nights stay. But, i can only find availability at concierge level.

Would concierge be worth it for me? I have mad most of my PS's - if they could get me CRT lunch that would be nice, but no big deal.

We like to eat breakfast before the parks and if we weren't concierge we'd do room service every morning.

We tend to eat our main meal at brunch or lunchtime and like to grab a snack early evening before going back to the parks (we take a mid-day nap/swim).

At the poly, i need to be in a room that is not on ground floor (huge snake phobia!) and i also need a balcony for the fresh air. If i were on concierge would they be able to arrange that for me.

Last thing - i really want to be near to the pool and the main building. Is all poly concierge in the same longhouse near to the main building? Is it one of the ones that has been refurbished.

A lot of questions I know and I appreciate all the help and advice. Thank you.

The Poly Concierge would be perfect for you. You can go to the lounge for Breakfast each morning. The lounge is GREAT with such a beautiful view of the castle. You can eat your large meal midday each day and then go back to the lounge around dinner time for their offerings which were so nice (except for the Sushi night which I did not care for). They also have cordials and desserts later in the evening. VERY close to the mail pool. We stayed here last year and it was great! This is the only way I would want to stay at the polynesian after staying at their concierge.

The concierge rooms are being redone right now, I believe they are due to open back up in a week or two. It does sound like you would enjoy a concierge room. We usually have breakfast in the lounge, go to the parks until lunch time, go back for a swim and a snack and then go back out around dinner time to tour and have dinner. It's so much easier to go to the lounge and grab breakfast than to have to wait in line in a food court, much quicker and more relaxing.

The location of Hawaii is very convenient to the pool, the GCH and the boat to the MK. The TTC is also just a short walk away. One of the things I like about staying in a concierge room at the Polynesian is that I know I will get a room location that I like.

We always requested either first or third room (second floor rooms do not have balconys) and that was always arranged for us. I would request a third floor room, but I don't think they can guarantee room requests.

I agree with all the others said but wanted to add that even though the 2nd floor rooms don't have balconies they do have the same doors as the other floors so you could open that up for fresh air-not the same as sitting on the balcony.....

We have ALWAYS had our "wishes" taken care of by the concierge. We have always requested a 2nd floor near the elevator room(non-smoking) and that is what we got. You will be able to have a decent continental type breakfast in the lounge, you will enjoy the offerings. It is nice to have milk for our kids, water or pop when we wanted it etc. You walk out the main entrance for Hawaii and there is the pool. We loved having our sliding door open, my kids would fall asleep watching the castle chang colors(we had LV) and we would watch the fireworks and the Water Pagent from our room. Our first year I had already made our PSs, but it was nice to use the staff for last minute changes. Like one night we hadn't planned on dining out but overheard a family talking about Chef Mickeys, I go to the desk and ask if there was anything available(this was 5pm) and they said how about 6:30? It was that easy. Another time was we wanted Kona and usually we don't make a PS for that get there and there was a 3hr wait. I run to the concierge desk and had a table in 30mins! Our family enjoyed the perks.

I also have a huge phobia w/ snakes, I never would have thought this was an issue, would we need to request 3rd floor because of that? Has anyone ever seen one near the Hawaii building rooms? I don't know if i really want to know the answer. Please be gentle.

Here's a thought: Snakes are not native to volcanic islands. Hence, you're unlikely to see one at the Poly pirate:

Are snakes possible at the Polynesian….Yes I have see one myself but not near the room. It was over near Luau cove.

Are snakes getting in the room likely….NO. They are rarely out in the open and neat the patios and unless you leave the door open unattended and there is the slim chance that a snake is anywhere near the room. They don’t like to hang out in public areas.

I have never seen a snake near our ground level patio ever.

Thanks everyone. I don't know if you can still do the poly snakes search on this board anymore, as the boards have crashed a couple of times and all posts were lost. But, yes, I believe someone accidentally left their patio door open and a snake got into the room. Don't know if it was harmful or not. But, never mind the snakes, stay away from the lagoon at night - there have been gator sightings!

Speaking of "uninvited guests", here's a picture of the smallest Disney CM we've ever seen. :earboy2:

He somehow made his way into the shower/tub of our 3rd floor room in the Hawaii building! DH grabbed him and released him outside unharmed :sunny:

No it was only 3 feet max but I was told a larger one was lounging on the Polynesian beach one night and they escorted it out....since it was not staying at the Polynesian and only Polynesian guests can use the beach.

The one I have a photo of was from a dock so it was not going to do anything to me. I would not be that scared anyway. I use to have one as a pet when I was 16.
