Search feature is giving me a hard time.

We are considering staying at the Poly Concierge level. Anyone have any reviews? Is the food good, is it just light fare? Is it all day, breakfast, lunch, dinner?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I suppose that I can't give you a yes or no response, but I did have the pleasure of being upgraded to concierge level at the Poly in April at no additional charge. The staff were super pleasant and helpful, but they probably would have been regardless. We did take advantage of the free food and the lounge area, which had a lovely view. We did not watch the fireworks from there, but it seems like the lounge might be a good viewing spot. Perhaps someone else can speak to this. My memory is not the best, but I do recall that there was a decent variety of food and drink available, including kid friendly snacks like those crustless sandwiches. We certainly popped in to grab sodas now and again, and my boyfriend took advantage of the cocktails a few times in the evenings. We also used the concierge for dinner reservations, but I also made reservations personally, so that was a nice perk but not a huge deal. If you are planning on heading back to the resort throughout the day and will actually take advantage of the space and the food, it will be more worth the extra dollars. If you have young children it may also provide a nice respite. They can snack and watch the disney programming when they need a break.

We did it once and only because we booked late and there were no garden rooms left. Would we do it again, probably not unless we are celebrating something special. We had so many problems with our room upon check in. The safe was locked, there was a hole in the wall, the sliding door would not lock, the electrical outlet flew out of the wall when my ds unplugged the iron. This all got taken care of though. Our room had a view of a tree trunk if you laid on the bed, it was the furthest from the lounge. A real hike. We had the ds bring the breakfast back to the room on our tray that had our glasses from the ice bucket on it. The lounge was always crowded at the start of 5 pm service. It was like stalking a table at counter service on a busy day. The breakfast items never change. Its your basic cereals, pineapple bread, bagels you can toast, fruit, milk, coffee, tea etc. I would have loved to have a blueberry muffin once. We only saw the afternoon stuff one day and that was while we were waiting for our room to be ready. They only had stuff like goldfish, etc. Just little snack. They do have lots of soda etc. all the time to take. Our teens liked this. We did one or 2 of the evening offerings. These should not be substituted for a meal, its more like orderves. We did have the desserts one night. Dh brought them back to the room for all of us to share. They were good. Like mini pastries etc. The cms were adequate. They did fix one problem with an adr we had, but then again the cast memebers were also expected to pull double duty inside the regular gch desk, so how could they really get to know you? Its alot of money that we could have used on some good meals etc. Best of luck deciding.

We will be there for 5 nights and I am starting to think that the extra $1000 is not worth it. I could use that money on some good meals.

Forgot to say that I didnt take the alcohol into consideration but we dont drink but you might want to think about that.

We stayed at the Poly concierge on our last visit. I wish that I would have taken advantage of more of the pre-planning and ADR's with them. We tend to be a family that leaves in the morning and comes back late at night, so we only really took advantage of breakfast. We did come back some nights (when we did AK or MGM) in time for the evening cordials and pasteries. They dim the light in the lounge and the music from Wishes is piped in. Having our goodies with a great view of the fireworks while hearing Wishes was magical.

That being said, $200 a day as you mentioned, seems like a lot of money for breakfast, quick snacks, beverages and a light, light dinner. It does feel great though to be 'staying concierge'. Although we did a garden view and had a view of a large tree! That wasn't so great because beyond the tree were garages.

All in all, I think that if you could afford it, everyone should try it once. For us, I think it will be a while before we spend that extra money again ~ of course unless we win the lottery or something!!!;)

We just did it, tho the upgrade was free. We thought it was great! If Disney was trying to "spoil" us, to where we'll always want to stay Concierge, it probably worked.

We stayed at the Poly last year, concierge level and loved it !! It was worth it for our family of five. How can you resist different foods put out throughout the day and evening ?!!!! The potato "thingy" forgot the name was excellent. We drink alcohol and they served beer and other bevs, nice !!! We sound sort of lushy, huh ? We are just two hard-working parents who deserve drink now and then !pirate:

Find out what foods they serve at what times and you can plan around that. We pretty much ate our breakfast at the concierge everyday. Plus we checked in early and hung out part of the time at the concierge area while waiting until our room was ready, great start to a WDW vacation !!!

Have fun !!!

We stayed there in Aug 2006 and my parents were there last oct and said they loved it! We stayed in room 3502 which is a MK view. The castle was directly across from our balcony. We were the second room from the elevator and lounge. This is also the end nearest the volcano pool. The location could not be beat! As for the food, we had our 2 boys and the babysitter with my Dh and I. We had breakfast every morning in the lounge and dinner there every night. Since our kids were 7 and 4 at the time, we did spend most of our time in the MK and it was so easy to get back and forth by the boat or monorail all day.

The menu I have was

Breakfast-continetal, cereal, juices, pineapple bread(I loved it!) fruit, pastries etc.

Lunch was PB&J, cheese and cracker, drinks and such.

Dinner was great.-IT changed every night- Vegetable spring rolls, asian noodles, BBQ pork ribs, coconut almond chicken, nachos, maui au gratin potatoes, salads, fruit trays and cheese trays.

after dinner was desserts. They were an assortment and pretty good.

The view alone was worth it to me, but all day long free drinks, like coke, water, juices, beer, wine, and such was great when it was so hot! The kids would just run to the lounge any time they wanted something.
With 5 of us I think it was a pretty good deal.
Hope this helped a bit.

Here is my opinion having done LVC and Theme Park View in Tahiti building.

The view is worth it. The rest is not unless you are going to take advantage of it. What I mean by that is having the CMs do your reservations and planning ahead, taking advantage of the food other than breakfast, etc.

Overall, I plan my own reservations to make sure I get the times and places I want by booking 180 days (give or take) out. We also do a sit down dinner each night at a restaurant and didn't take advantage of the food offerings at night or the beverage offerings as often as I thought we would. We did eat breakfast in the lounge each morning.

At this point it would have to take something to get me to pay for concierge service again. I just don't see the value anymore at all.

It sounds like you have the dining plan and lots of food coming, which makes me assume you already have your reservations done.

My vote is do the Theme Park View. The concierge isn't worth it to you this trip. You'll still have that great view!

We just got back a few weeks ago from a 5-night Poly LVC stay. We had a wonderful time. The view was the best part...amazing! I really enjoyed the concierge food the first couple of days. But, then it got pretty old. It was the exact same breakfast everyday, and nothing to speak of in the afternoon. The Saturday evening food was very good and the rest was okay. It was enough for us lighter eaters to make a dinner of it. In a nutshell, my husband said he would definitely pay to stay concierge again (he thought the exclusivity of it was really worth it). I on the other hand would not. I would use the extra money to have the DDP. So it really depends on your own perspective.
