Ok , I think I have made a decision to stay poly conc! The question is now which floor 1st or 3rd? I know I would like a balcony or patio. We have small children and are non smokers!
I have seen it posted that the 3rd floor does not smell like smoke, I am not sure whether to risk it?

I worry that we will be missing out on a great view if we stay on the 1st floor.

I also saw it posted somewhere that the conc lounge has a viewing area for the fireworks and the water parade is this true?
If so which floor is this view from?

Thanks for your help!

the view of the fireworks and ELP is from the lounge on the 2nd floor.

About 1st or 3rd floor, I can't advise. But if Tikiman stays on the 1st floor that's good enough for me.:)

We've always stayed on the 2nd floor. No balcony but I think the rooms are longer because there is no balcony.

We too have small children...... ages 3 and 1 1/2. BOth could fit thru the slates on the balcony, if they so desired. I made them both sit while on the balcony......... scared me half to death. FOr our next trip I plan on bringing netting to keep them safer. (at least so I feel like I could turn my backs on them..... ya know.

Our room did not smell of smoke, but somethings the hallway did. The view is quite marvy.

On the same note.... I wouldnt feel comfortable going to the bathroom, leaving the kids in the room, with the patio door open either..... (am I obsessive???)

Well first off the first floor has just as good a view of the castle, fireworks and water pageant as the 2nd or 3rd. The only thing you have a better view of higher up is the beach and shore. You can see on my web page pictures from the same part of the longhouse but from the 1st and 3rd floor. We also like to be able to walk out to the beach during the shows which you can not do from the other floors.

As far as the 3rd floor being smoky I have never smelled anything in the rooms I have visited and I am very sensitive to the smell of smoke.

The last thing I must say is I think the 2nd floor gets a bad image. The slider still opens up just as wide and there are seats at a table near the slider that you can sit right there and watch the shows. The rooms are not and larger, not to contradict Ed (sorry Ed) because they stop at the same wall as the other 2 floors but the rooms are very large compared to many of the other resorts. I would say that just about any floor will be nice. We just prefer the 1st floor and now it is getting hard to get a 1st floor room because they are the most requested.

Aloha

Steve
