Poly check-in ?

We've decided to arrive at the Poly the night before our 7 for 5 package begins, so we don't waste time. However, I just saw on another post that Fridays after 5 are the busiest check-in times. We will not be arriving until 7:30pm or so. What do you think our chances of getting our requests met are (we booked LV and have requested MK view in Tahiti)?

I have this noted on our reservation, but any ideas on how I can boost our shots? This is an incredibly special trip for our family (esp. our 5 year old who has been undergoing extensive medical treatment. His treatment will actually be over next week, and God willing he not need any other treatments.) and I am trying to make sure it is as perfect as possible. I tried to get GVC or LVC, but neither were available for our dates with any discounts (11/5-11/13).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Would you consider staying somewhere much cheaper on Friday night? A hotel near the airport, one of the Disney values? Then you could arrive early Sat at Poly, put in your requests, and wait for your room. It sounds like a pain, but might be worth it to get what you want, and would save a few $100...

another option is to just check in Poly Fri night, and if you DON'T get what you want (hey, you might, not a busy time of year generally), have them note that you would like to switch rooms Sat.

You are going to LOVE the Poly! We have stayed there several times, and are heading there ourselves next Thursday. We have never had any trouble getting the room that we want there. Since you will be going off season and when it isn't nearly as busy, even on a late Friday I would say that your chances are very good. But no matter what room you get or where you stay you will love the resort. It is beautiful! When you check in inform them of your request, and I know they will do their very best to accomodate you. We were there last summer, and on the first night of an 8 night stay our air conditioner quit working in our garden view room. Since they could not immediately get it fixed, they moved us to a conceige lagoon view room on the 3rd floor for our entire stay! It was fabulous, so I know they will do nearly anything to help make your stay as magical as possible. I am sure your son will be great and ready to go, and I will say a prayer that all goes better than anticipated!

This is exactly what we do on most of our trips. We arrive the night before our trip and stay at a DTD property. Then we get up early the next morning and check in at our Resort. We may not get our room immediately, however, we usually get a majority of our requests honored.

We checked into the Beach Club at 7:00 pm, Saturday, May 29th. We got exactly the opposite of what our requests were because nothing was lfeft. I had known this was a good possibility to happen checking in this late on a holiday weekend. However, we let them know we wanted to move and they got us exactly what we wanted the next day.

Thank you all for your replies. Last year we did stay at the All-Stars for the night before our package. With two small kids (they will be 22 months and 5 this year), it was difficult to get checked-in and get them comfortable and then have to leave early the next morning.

We decided this year we would just spend a little more and stay at the Poly. If we don't get what we want, I will mention we are willing to switch rooms. I would have never thought to do that!
