All the longhouses have a balcony on the 3rd floor only (patio on the ground floor) except Tokelau, Tahiti, and one other I can't think of. They have balconies on the 2nd floor also.

You can open the sliders, there's just nowhere to go! The railings are decorative (well and for safety as well, since there's a door) - but there's nowhere to stand.
We've always had the first floor other than one night in Raratonga on the second. I was surprised how lovely the feeling was with the slider. Can't put my finger on it but it was very, very nice. Sort of open to the gardens but a cozy feeling at the same time.
Thanks, second floor sounds very nice too. I won't say no to it, anyway. If you pull chairs up to it, it's pretty much like sitting on a balcony with extra privacy.
