Poly at 7 months?

All the points not being used by the bungalows make the studios harder to get.
Did Disney see this as a possibility when constructing them? If so, did this give them some type of financial advantage or sorts? Is this scenario the same at the CCVs?

It's true across most of the DVC landscape. Cabins agains CCV studios, bungalows against PVB studios, every other room category against VGF studios, etc.

When DVD decided to lower the buy-in points for membership, they knowingly oversold small contracts that were being purchased with the express intention of using those contracts towards studio bookings. It happened a lot at VGF. Small contracts were oversold to people wanting studios. It continues with CCV, and as long as it moves points, I don't see it being different for Riviera or any future resort.

What was the initial buy in amount and what exactly did they lower it to? This is pertaining to direct purchases, correct?

Original buy in at OKV was 230 points. A few years later it eventually dropped to 150 and for a while bounced between 150 points and 160 points.

Buy-in was lowered to 100 points in 2014 when they were pushing VGF. Given the resort's point chart, you can imagine how much mileage one would get from a 100 point contract there.

With VGF, PVB, and CCV, I don't imagine there were/are a ton of people (who didn't hail from The Kingdom - the Saudi not Magic variety) lining up to buy 900-1500 point contracts to cover the Grand Villas, Bungalows, and Cabins annually.

So the smaller re-sale contracts like I bought, 50 points or less came possibly from a 150 point contract split three ways?

Oh, ok. So what about my 40 point contract, how did that number come by you think? Add on as well?

It either would've been somebody splitting up an initial purchase although that's a relatively rare thing as most direct buyers come into it without having knowledge to even ask about doing that or most likely it was an add-on by an existing member. In general the smaller contracts come from add-ons but you can always go to the OC website and search on the original owner and see what it was. An add on can be 25 points or any other increment higher than that at most resorts except CCV which requires an add on of 50 or 75 points but I haven't kept up on what the minimum is.
