Poly and Renting a car

About 5 years ago, my wife and I rented a car (Believe it was National). Can we still do that directly from Poly? We have 3 kids and will just need a vehicle for about 3 days. What is the most cost effective way to do this?

I don't believe so. But, you can make an advance reservation with National and then when you need the car, call the Car Care Center at WDW and they will send a shuttle for you and take you to the Center and you can get your car. Then reverse it when you return it. And the nice thing is that the Car Care Center isn't all that far from you at the Polynesian. The other option for you would be to get over to the Swan/Dolphin and rent a car there.

I recommend doing it via the Swan/Dolphin. That way you can easily use Disney transportation to get to your car when you rent it and when you drop it off. You can incorporate pickup/dropoff with visits to EPCOT or MGM.

I've always used the Dolphin location to pickup/dropoff rental cars thru National. Their desk is in the lobby of the Dolphin and instead of waiting for a shuttle, I just head to the Dolphin, usually after a morning in Epcot and get my car.

Another thing that's great about the Dolphin is that you can drop off the car at the valet area in front, and they will handle parking it in the right place for you. I didn't even have to go back to the Alamo/National desk there when I dropped off.

If you do book at the Car Care Center, please be aware that they require a reservation for the shuttle to be made at least 1 hour prior to the shuttle's scheduled stop at the resort. I was at SSR and the shuttle ran at 20 minutes after.

I also will say that the Car Care Center was extremely busy the day I was there, since 3 or 4 shuttles dropped off at the same time. They processed us fairly quickly, but the Dolphin might be better since you and everyone else would be arriving at different times, not altogether.
