Poly and BW room requests

We're doing a split stay between Polynesian and Boardwalk. It's our first time staying at both. At Poly we are a group of 14 with 10 adults and 4 kids (10,8,4, and 1). At BW we are a group of 8 with 2 kids (10,8). I'm having trouble deciding what longhouse to request for Poly and what to request for BW since we've never stayed at either. I've looked through both resorts threads, but was hoping for some more opinions and info. Thanks!

Request a location that works well for you. Decide what's a priority to be near and go from there. Want to be close to the lobby? Dining choices? Do you want ground floor? Upper floor? Near an elevator bank?

I never request specifics like a certain room, but do know that I like an upper floor that's close to an elevator, so that's what I always request (BLT).

Just curious, what view category do you have at Poly? Also, I assume you have three rooms. Is it important that all three are in the same longhouse?

Standard view and we have 4 rooms. Three for the whole stay at Poly, and one for a shorter amount of time. Staying in the same longhouse is important.

Unless you can tell us what's important to your group we can't really advise you as to where to request. Think about some basic issues:
How close/far from bus/monorail?
How close/far from food/shops?
How close/far from pool?
All those may make a difference and trying to be "close" to all of them may be a mistake. Keep in mind that the closer you are to a popular spot the more noise you might encounter.

What a great split stay!!

Poly: We love the Niue longhouse for standard view. 1st floor rooms have a huge patio, they are fantastic. If a patio/balcony is important, make sure to request it. Niue is steps from the pools and GCH.

BW: We ask for a full balcony and close to lobby for the BWI side.

Unless you can tell us what's important to your group we can't really advise you as to where to request. Think about some basic issues:
How close/far from bus/monorail?
How close/far from food/shops?
How close/far from pool?
All those may make a difference and trying to be "close" to all of them may be a mistake. Keep in mind that the closer you are to a popular spot the more noise you might encounter.

For the Poly, I think being close to the GCH is probably the most important. I've eaten at Ohana, but haven't really been anywhere besides the GCH so I'm not really familiar with the layout of the resort.
For BWI, I think being close to an elevator. Again, I've never stayed there so I'm not really familiar and know that sometimes people familiar with the resorts have suggestions that I wouldn't have thought of.

If you want to be close to the GCH, I would recommend Rarotonga. It's just steps from GCH.

At BWI, I would just request close to lobby.

Good choices ! I'm staying at exactly those two resorts for the first time this fall. Don't mean to hijack the OP's thread, but to avoid duplication, maybe someone has some idea for us too.

I have a Standard at the Poly, and a "Preferred" View at a Boardwalk1BR Villa. Any suggestions ?

The only place I've been at the Poly is the marina/pool area and the GCH - any ideas what I should request for my family of 4 ?

Overall, I prefer a quieter room to the extra walking (ie, don't want to be next to an elevator or the ice machine), but with the Poly, I would prefer to be closer to the GCH (though with as nice a view as possible).

So excited about staying at each for the first time.

If you want to be close to the GCH and have a quiet room, I would request Rarotonga, quiet room, pool side. We stayed on the third floor of Rarotonga all the way at the end of the hallway away from the elevator and it was perfect. Very quiet and a nice view of the pool.
