Hi Folks,

We will be staying at the Poly for the first time in December (second week). Our children are 2 and 4. We will not be hitting up the pool. Our kids nap during the day so we will be coming back and fourth, probably carrying my son. We will be spending most of our time at MK and Epcot. My son LOVES the monorail, so we will probably use that as our primary mode of transportation, and the boats secondary. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on where we might try to request rooms. Our reservations are for garden view. View is not as important as quiet. Elevator is a must.

Also, please tell me that the whole mousekeeping issues I have been reading about are long past. I am getting more than a bit concerned by what I have been reading in other threads.:scared1:

Lastly, any further tips/info regarding this resort would be greatly appreciated. I did read most of the other thread about the Poly, but it is SOOOOO long, that I may have missed something.

Thanks very much for any replies!:santa:

Tokelau. A little further from the GCH (and Monorail) than some of the other longhouses, but honestly the walk from one end of the Poly to the other is not that far, even with young kids.

In December I bet Samoa is fairly quiet, too; it is wedged between the 2 pools, but the pools won't be very crowded in December (different story in warmer months) -- it's also a step or two closer to the GCH.

We were at the Poly in September with 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old. We stayed in Fiji and loved it. It was very close to the GCH and very quiet and we loved the view of the marina and beach area. If view isn't important you could ask for Rapa Nui which is furthest from the GCH but very close to the TTC to hop on the monorail and also the ferry. It is a very quiet area and really not that far from Capt. Cooks or the GCH. The garden view side of Tahiti would be very quiet and also close to TTC. We had the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at Ohanas and highly recommend it.

Forgot to mention that our room was always clean and we had no problems with mousekeeping. They were very considerate. Rooms are not dark either in my opinion and they are huge. Plenty of lights and the ones by the bed could be dimmed which was nice.

We stayed in Tokelau w/3 kids (ages 8, 5 &2) - very centralized location. Close to laundry, bus stop, GCH & the quiet pool. We didn't think Tolelau was far away from GCH at all. It was great on rainy days because we could exit Tokelau (the exit toward bus stop & laundry ) and run to Rarotonga - go through Rarotonga and out the exit maybe 10 feet is the entrance to GCH. Not long at all - we also did this on hot days when we preferred to walk in the A/C then outside. Tokelau is not far from the themed pool either - great location. If the pools are not important, I would request Rarotonga as you are steps from GCH & monorail. If you exit on the other end of Rarotonga you are close to the bus stop. Its a great location. I think the only downside to Rarotonga is there are parking lot views (but you would see the monorail - so it may not be a con - it depends!). We liked Tokelau very much but Rarotonga would be our 2nd choice or Samoa (close to themed pool - some noise I would think). Good luck.

Niue is also a good choice - very close to everything but from what I've read it used to be a smoking building which if you're sensitive to that smell might be bothersome. Good luck. Personally I think staying anywhere at Poly would be great.

we"ll be there 2nd week as well we have requested raratonga quiet pool side. that is our favorite longhouse. very centerized. our kids are teens now but remember very well when they were your kids age. see you there!

We were at the Poly from Aug 15-24, and had absolutely no issues with Mousekeeping. We stayed in Tokelau (our first choice), rm 3923 and loved it. A couple minutes walk to the GCH and just a little further to the TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot.. When we were really tired (or lazy !), we would take the monorail from the Poly to the TTC, then switch monorails to Epcot. If you want lots of info on the Poly, check out Tikiman's site. You will find everything you need, or don't need, for that matter !! Good luck and have a great trip !! :thumbsup2

I have also stayed in Toukelau a few times, including two trips in December. Always very quiet. I will be there again this December for a few days, then switching resorts.

I stayed at Grand Floridian last stay and DH and I walked from GF through Poly to the TTC. I wanted to see the Poly and just walking through it is fun. It was on that walk that I declared "the next time we come to Disney we are staying at the Poly!" And here we come!

This trip we'll have a 4 year old in tow (I'm so excited, I almost spoil her Christmas surprise on a daily basis). My strategy is to stay in one of the buildings nearest the TTC. It seems some buildings are closer to TTC than they are the GCH and it's a short walk to the monorail for Epcot or MK.

We just returned this past Saturday from our first trip to the Poly. We were in Tokelau, room 3941. I thought this building was perfect, close to everything but very quiet. We were facing the quiet pool and never heard any noise from that area. And the pool was being used quit often. It was only maybe about a 3 minute walk to the GCH. I would definitely request this building again.

Mousekeeping was wonderful. Our room was cleaned thoroughly everyday and at a reasonable time. I also noticed the grounds were immaculate. No trash to be found, not even a cigarette butt. I was very impressed how clean everything was. All the CM's were very friendly. We always received alohas from everyone we passed.

Hop you have a great time!:)

The Tahiti building is our favorite. It is farther away from the GCH, but it is closer to the TTC, you can take the walkway about 5 minutes to get Epcot via the monorail. You can also take the express monorail if you need a straight shot to the MK.

The garden view rooms here look at the grounds and another longhouse. It is nice and quiet-we are up around 6:45 AM every morning and had no issues. Mousekeeping kept our room well kept and always left extra towels upon our request (and a little tip ;) ). Mirror was a little dirty but I will get over it.

Since nearly all of rooms have now been renovated, there are no work trucks and workers walking all over the place. Just one peaceful place. Enjoy your trip! :)

Omg!!! We just got home last night and we were in the same building room 2941!!! You were right above us!!

We really liked the location and loved the room!! It was always clean and when we found some left over trash on the balcony they got it right away. We loved the Poly and I hope to stay there again!!

Wasn't that a great building?! I thought the location was great. Hope my 2 dd's didn't make too much noise running all around. I always worry about the people below us.:)

Nope you guys were good!!:thumbsup2 Hope we were quiet!! I have 2 kids too!!

I agree it was a great location and very central to all things at the Poly!! I thought Capt. Cook's was good too. We really liked the touch screen ordering system. The monorail was so great!! It was a great stay. Now though DS has the stomach flu!! Yuck! Hope we don't get it.....

Thank you all so much. I feel much better and can't wait until 12/9!!! :cool1: I will make my requests tonight and hope for the best.

Your going to love the Poly! We did so much that it is nearly impossible to get my family to stay anywhere else! We have never had any problems with mousekeeping. And if you do....please talk to someone while your there...they are great about making sure everything is perfect. Hope you have a absolutely wonderful time!! :)

I went this past April. I requested 3rd floor Tokelau but got 3rd floor Rapa Nui facing Tahiti. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. We were right next to the walkway to the TTC and just as close to the boat that crosses the lagoon to the MK. We spent most of our time at MK and Epcot with 2 young kids and the location was ideal at the end of a long day with multiple options for transport and minimal walking distance upon return. We also drove down and had the added convenience of Rapa Nui's separate parking lot right outside the building which we also loved.

Mousekeeping was incredible. Lots of towel animals and we even met our mousekeeper in the hallway one day and she sat down with my daughter and showed her how she made her 'magic'. We left her written notes/thank yous with our daily tip and she had them there right on her cart and even got recognition from her boss because of them.

Your best bets are Tokelau, Tahiti or Rapa Nui (the last 2 being closest to the TTC walkway). It's quiet at that end of the resort and the rooms are a little bit bigger as well in those 3 buildings. The location was perfect for us.

We stayed in Tahiti during May '06...MK view room. We loved being so close to the TTC (monorail to MK, monorail to Epcop, boat to MK, and we could always jump on a bus coming back to TTC if we missed the poly bus). The only problem was the ferry horn....the first night our door wasn't shut correctly so it sounded like the boat was coming right into our room...after we fixed it, we could still hear it a little but it didn't wake us up or anything. So, staying by the TTC was great but watch out for the horn...the ferry can run pretty early/late. Also, I would assume that garden view would be quieter as well.

Thanks again for so many great and helpul replies. Now, I am back in "I CAN'T WAIT," mode. I am really looking forward to the trip. Unfortunately, it is probably how the early stages of a sick and terrible disease known only as IDLS (Irreversible Disney Longing Syndrome), to which the only known cure would be a minimum of 2000 point DVC, and my current insurance does not seem to cover it. :goodvibes
