POLL: Which hotel should we stay in? Please vote!

Today got a postcard in mail offerening a promo. code - discounts on hotels (from disney) - Caribbean beach @ $94 a nite (King bed / NS) in October 8 nites~

Put temporary hold on that and also have resrvation w/ HAWTHORN SUITES
in Lake Buena Vista. - comes w/ breakfast, indoor corridors

Read on this site wondeful reviews for SPRING HILL SUITES IN MARRIOTT VILLAGE. - comes w/ breakfast, indoor corridors

CARIBBEAN BEACH - pluses: Disney hotel, fun atmosphere,
CONS: exterior corridors- fear walking far to and from car and desolate-
can't walk anywhere from hotel; no breakfast

Hawthorn Suites: pluses - are all the cons of Carib. Beach
cons: couple mixed reviews; not sure??

Spring Hill Suites: don't have enough info, but get free breakfast and all the cons of Carib. Beach

WHY WOULD U RECOMMEND CARIBB. BEACH?

I have stayed many many times onsite and quite a few times offsite.

I have stayed as I mentioned to you in another thread at the Marriott Village quite a few times.

Comparing the two, CBR and Spring Hill Suites I would choose an outdoor corridor over an interior one. At least there is some great scenery to look at rather than the rug or the numerous room doors.

At CBR it is not a far walk to the parking lot from your room either. It may be closer at Spring Hill but the landscaping is much better on property than offsite so you don't realize you walked a little further.

The free breakfast wouldn't sway me one way or the other. Just walking to the food court at CBR is wonderful and is a great way to start the day.

You seem to keep coming back to the corridor issue so I think you should find one with interior corridors since that is important to you.

we love free breakfast though----not sure which is best!
plus we figured we could walk to places from hawthorn or marriott.. (at nite)

Landslide vote so far. I voted CBR because I love staying onsite so much, I often wonder why anyone would stay offsite.

For myself, I prefer the convenience and atmosphere of staying on-site so I would always choose a Disney Resort. I have done it both ways but, I have to admit, that once I tried on-site I never went off-site again... I love walking out to the Disney bus (boat or monorail) and letting someone else do the driving...It just makes it feel like I am "away from it all" to never set foot off Disney property when I am there.

The first few times I stayed on-site, I stayed at Deluxe resorts because I too was concerned about "exterior walkways" but, after realizing that I could go more frequently if I stayed at a moderate or value resort, I tried those too... I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was not scared at all. The Disney properties are all so busy that there are always people around so I never felt alone or scared.

Wherever you decide to stay, I am sure you will have a great time, it is Disney...after all...

You might get a different vote from the budget board if you posted there, but for me it's a no brainer. The only reason we are staying offsite for the first part of this trip is so that my dad can bring his dog for Thanksgiving. The only time I might consider offsite otherwise would be if it was free. Disney just goes out of their way to spoil you, the transportation, the security, etc. To me it's that much more enjoyable onsite.

The walk from Spring Hill to DTD is quite a walk. There is really nothing close to walk to but restaurants. There is an outlet mall down the street but it is a walk also.

I'm on the side of always staying onsite if you can. The perks make it so much easier to have a stress-free vacation, especially EMH, room key charging and package delivery.

Also, the CBR's pool is my favourite among the moderates. Wish I was there right now...

Stop at the grocery store and pick up some breakfast items if you don't want to do the foodcourt. You can get a cheap styro cooler from the store if you have cold items, or you might be able to rent a fridge from the resort. That sounds like a great rate at CBR.

vote for carib, however, only stay if you are doing early entry. In our mind (and being there before the gates open), that is what is worth staying on property. As for breakfast, get/take a cooler (they have nifty collapsible's @ Target), get breakfast stuff for the hotel room. PB&J works great......

The only thing that would pull me offsite now is the draw of a pool house. With 5 in our family we are limited to where we can stay and quite cramped in one room. One bath isn't so great either. The only place we choose one hotel room over a condo or house is at Disney and that is because of the onsite benefits. Hubby loves to basically park the car and rarely drive for a week, plus we like staying on the monorail line.

We stayed off-site once and NEVER ever will we do it again. That's why I voted CBR - because off-site doesn't appeal to me. No matter what hotel. When I go to Disney, I want to be immersed in Disney and that means I have to STAY at Disney.

We've stayed at CBR twice. It's been awhile ago, but we liked it a lot. Don't mind the walk to the marketplace...in fact we liked it because it's such beautiful surroundings.

Fairytinkerbell, I was torn between a suite off site and a moderate on. I looked at the Hawthorn Suites it looks nice. What rate did you get? I can't get rates for the week in April that we want to go. Thanks for any info!

Onsite is the way to go if you can! But I would choose POFQ.

Great idea! You can pick up the same high-carb items like bagels, Coco Puffs, and OJ at the grocery. We would also pick up a tub of bream cheese that we would pop in the cooler. The food courts have toasters that you can use and you can refill your mug with hot coffee every morning.

I personally don't think the free breakfast is a big deal. Having more room at the suites would sway me more. However, my vote was still for CBR (or POFQ if it's available) since I am an on-site kind of person.
