If this poll has already been done recently I apologize in advance...but with a DVC CM saying the buzz is the "Contemporary" I for one am let down as the place has zero personal appeal to me, but then again I'm usually an outlier :groom: ...so here goes. And if I forgot to mention a possibility that has regularly been bantered about then by all means please let the ceremonial beatings begin.

#1 Winter Park Colorado or other ski resort area in CO or Utah that is not unreasonably expensive or hard to get to. Snowbird would be good.

#2 Off shore. Such as US Virgin Islands.

I think more off-site options would increase the number of potential buyers. I really don't care for more options at WDW either. There are plenty already.

I voted for the AK because it is my favorite non-DVC resort. I love everything about it! I would stay there quite often if they had a DVC there. I love the food, I love the gift shop, etc. The ambience can't be beat!!!

The treehouses - I'd love love LOVE to stay in one again. My kids were 1 and 3 at the time and don't remember it. :(

I'm still waiting for Mars!!!

Disney's Martian Villas, anyone?
:thewave:

Voted for GC/DL cause think it would be great to use DVC points in CA, but Animal Kingdom was a very close 2nd. Agree - Contemporary doesn't thrill me either... :confused3

I would very much like there to be a DVC at the Poly. Not sure where they'd put it, though!

I have mentioned before how great I think a Disney Ski resort would be, and then I found in a book the fact that Disney had tried to open a ski resort in the Sierra Nevada's in CA right after he opened Disneyland - I say they go back to the plan! I would also LOVE a Disneyland DVC.

I picked AKL but I would also like the Poly just as well. I would also like to see one at Disneyland but if they did this would love for them to have some sort of DVC AP that would allow you to visit WDW & DL both. Yep I'm really dreaming big on that one!!!

ITA, ditto :wave2:

Well, I guess at 19.74% of the vote so far the Contemporary isn't perhaps Disney's best choice for the next DVC. I think the place needs a total renovation so that it is in fact Contemporary for 2005 (or 2025) v Contemporary for 1975....

While I share your toughts on the Contemporary (might stay there a couple of times but I'd never buy there), it was announced earlier this year that the resort is slated for a significant redesign. Guess we'll have to wait and see how significant it turns out to be.

With regard to the poll, no, 19% doesn't indicate any overwhelming support. But, with so many options presented, I think that's to be expected. If you narrow down the poll to the two most likely options, which IMO would be the Contemporary or some other stand-alone resort, I bet you get a lot more support for the CR.

As a member I would hate to see DVC put all their eggs in one basket, ie. WDW. To preserve the value of our points I strongly believe we need off site resorts. Diversification. There are lots of people out there who would consider DVC but they don't want to spend all their vacations at Disney World or Disneyland. I would certainly like other options. And I bet many current members will feel that way in another 10 years. In addition, I'm a little uncomfortable that my investment is largely dependent on the continued success of WDW over the next 37 years.

I dont know, its right up there as a top 3 choice. dont think you can really go by % since theres so many choices.

My vote is for Poly, I think it far outweighs CR for atmsosphere and still would be on the monorail. I personally couldnt ask for much more.

choice # 2 would be CR, dont really love it but I think its next best on site and as far as the off site choices, while they sound great, I doubt I would ever make use of them.

I'm not sure how much they can do with the place to change the atmosphere as the architecture "is what it is" regarding shape, layout, size, materials-i.e. cement! etc. I for one would love to be proven wrong and see a shining, relevant, new CR post renovation. Does anyone know where these plans are posted?

Since most rumors have the next one at CR, I will be happy with any DVC resort on the monorail. However, my first choice would be the POLY. I don't think that will happen though.

Oh, I'm with you on that. They'll have to keep the whole concrete structure. But it seems like they could do something to dress-up the exterior of the building to some degree. Still isn't likely to appeal to me, though.

There really haven't been any details made public. I don't think there has been any more revealed other than a blurb in the Orlando Sentinel about 4-6 weeks ago. The impression I got from that handful of sentences was that an architect had been chosen and funds earmarked, but I don't think the design work had even begun. Could be months before we hear anything further.

I can't put my hands on the article now, but I'll add it if it turns up.

As long as its something that will attract a lot of interest to take away from BCV and BWV (such as AK or a monrail resort) I will be happy. I think the rest will just increase further the demand pool for BCV and BWV (and VWL). Sure a lot of us will go to Hawaii, Tokyo or Colorado once or twice (maybe a lot for some) but it seems like any of these other owners will have a lot more reason to come to WDW and guess where they will want to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even Eagle Pines will end up like SSR with a large group wanting to stay at the high demand Resorts. Just my opinion.
