Sign ups for the Zoo Tag swap will be in July.. Trying now to narrow down what we would like to see happen with this swap..

My inital idea is for each person to do 2 tags...
Option 1
1 tag will be for either journalling or a cropped photo
1 tag will be for your theme (ie. generic zoo, specific animal, biome)

or
Option 2
2 tags embellished with no requirement for journalling/photo attachement.

What size tag would you prefer maxium and minimum?
Do you prefer option 1 or option 2?
Other suggestions?

I would like to see how others feel before "dictating" what is going to happen.

TIA,

I like the idea of Option 1. Fortunately, I can make my tags any size because of my bug.

I like Option #1 as well. Also, I prefer large tags...at least a minimum of 3 1/2 to 4 inches. I can do any size, too, but would probably rather not be involved if the tags are small.

If you go with option 1 you could do a 3.5 x 4 or a 4.5 x 5 for the large, you can get a pic on that and then maybe a 2.5 x 3 for the smaller tag.

How big does the Cricut one come too? I haven't tried tags yet.

Up to 5 1/2 inches tall.... I'm not sure the width since I haven't made them that large yet

I too can do any size with my craftrobo. If people without such easy to use devices were to join they could possible do just a journal box instead of a tag- of just a square tag with an eyelet of fiber. Fitting much of an animal embelishment on anything small is very hard. I just did an animal alphbet tag swap and our sizes were 2.5 by 4 and it was hard to get a good animal on the tag.

I made one that was 5.5 x 4.5 on my bug. That was the shadow and the top mat was a little smaller.

I was thinking something a 3.5 x 4 also, Buffy. I think anything larger than that is way TOO big.

I don't know if Sizzix dies come that large and I don't want anyone not to sign up because we pick too large of a size for most dies. I would be happy to cut somebody's tags for them on my Cricut if they want to join and are concerned about the size.

I am too Shauna - we could each take a side of the country? I love using my bug for tags

The sizes Buffy said are ideal too me..
I too don't want them too small... I think her minimum size was perfect....

I need to work more w/ my bug this weekend...but I have other things taking priority right now..and if I could just stay up one whole night and work uninterrupted, I could get this task done and just have to worry about copies... but at lass...that's a best laid plan that isn't coming together...

I too would be willing to help cut tags out for anyone too...

Seems like option 1 is where everyone is most interested.. I'll leave the poll open a while longer...but like I said... I'm trying to think ahead...and with above mentioned priorities...it's a good thing I have you girls to help out!!!

Thanks everyone, keep the suggestions coming..
now off to do more work around the house and figure out dinner for tonight!!

I prefer larger tags myself.
I like the journalling on the tag.
So I would like option 1 please.

If you don't have machine, I don't think tags need a fancy top to be a tag. Think more like book marks. I like that look. I did it all the time before my Cricut came home to live.

I can cover New England for tags if they send me the paper. I will try to cut some tonight to get an idea of measurements. The cool thing is the machine can cut while I paint! :yay:

You multi-tasker...
I'm doing that now.. well, not painting; multi-tasking.. I'm not allowed.. DH says I don't paint in even layers! :confused3 :rotfl:

Well as long as he is willing to paint whatever you need painted don't learn how then he will keep on doing it. After all isn't that what our DHs are always doing with us- we do it better so why should they try.

I think you are on to something Rebecca...
You should have seen dh's face when he came home and I had demo'ed this old yucky closet that I think was built about 1600 or so.. It was gross... they had tore it up beyond repair.. I tore that sucker out with a hammer and all my might!!

I am looking forward to this swap. I voted for two themed tags, but mostly because I just got the cricut expression (not even out of the box) and I have both ZooBalloo and Animal Kingdom carts, so I am looking forward to playing with them. I honestly do not care much what the requirements are...I'll sign up regardless.

As for size, I have discovered that I generally make things larger than others I have swapped with -- so the sizes previously mentioned sound okay to me. Are these sizes meant to be guidelines? Or, will we be required to work with the sizes ultimately listed?

Another good questions 123SA...
Let's decide that in this thread too..

Okay everyone....
Do we want to make the sizes a requirement or guideline (like a minimum size of XXX and the maximum of XXXX)????

I would do a minimuim to maximium size but they should be within an inch. Some tags may work better in certain sizes than other. I have some beautiful tags that were not rectangluar at all.

Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca.. that is what I was thinking too!!!
Okay, off to deal w/ the kids who think they own the house tonight! Gesh! How many days til school???

I'm not a fan of the uber large tags. I have the Sizzix traditional set (pointed top) and the set with the round top & pointed top together. Between those, I can get an evenly matted tag with the bottom measuring 2" wide by 4" long - to the point.

I'd probably skip this swap if the tags are going to be much larger than that.
