POLL: So what's your first request in a room?

We haven't had a new poll for a little while, so here goes one that I haven't seen yet.

We've talked about the kinds of requests we make when reserving our DVC homes. So the poll question is: What is the highest priority request you make when asking for a reservation?

I realize that many of us put in a couple of requests, but the first one you tell MS is supposed to be your most critical. What is yours?

I'll give the most common I've heard, but feel free to add comments, especially if "other".

"Specific room(s), view or section" would be, for example.....Boardwalk View at BWV, Turtle Pond area at OKW, Pool View at VWL, etc.

Also, I know your critical request might differ from place to place. Go ahead and use your "home" for the purposes of this poll.

If this comes out how I think it will, I'll have another poll soon.

We always request NON-smoking as our first priority at our home resort.

When we stay at OKW, our first request is for an upper floor.

At OKW, our first request is ALWAYS for the top (3rd) floor. You generally get the best view, and you never hear anyone running on your ceiling. Walking up two flights of stairs is a small price to pay, the way we see it.

We wont be booking at our "home" until Nov for next Oct.
However, when we booked the cruise there were certain rooms I did not want. I was on phone booking with certain rooms crossed out thanks to Dave from Marietta. I had my preferences. Unfortunately I could not get any of the hidden porthole rooms.

At OKW are top 3 choices are....
1.non-smoking
2.top floor
3.near HH

First is non smoking. DW has allergies and I hate the smell.
Then we ask for higher floor.

A non-smoking room is a must because of allergies.

We want to stay at each DVC resort once without requesting a specfic location. We are too new to know what to request.

non-smoking is priority #1 - then I don't mind if we're far from the elevators - because then we might have a nice view of the fireworks from the 3rd floor. In fact, this time I requested the 3rd floor hoping to get that view again. (standard - overlooking BW entrance)

Top floor would be next. Sitting out on the balcony with a cold brew and relaxing.

I voted Specific room(s), view or section But..... our second request is smoking (gasp.... or lack there of....hack hack) BUT we put view over smoking.... and respect the room assignment!!!

Our first request is always non-smoking. Then our next request is 3rd floor. We ask for 3rd floor at BWV and OKW. We like being on the top floor at OKW and we like being on the 3rd floor of BWV because we like to use the stairs instead of the elevators.

Wow! I'm really surprised. I also ask for non/smoking, top floor at OKW. I didn't expect to see that so many others want this.

We've only stayed at our second "home" VWL, once so far, and we were very happy where we ended up. We had only asked for non-smoking, not knowing much about the layout.

I really don't obsess about room location.

First and formost is Non-smoking. Then we request the South point area at OKW.

At OKW we request a newer building with the additional door to the bathroom so we don't have to go through the bedroom when the baby is asleep. We also prefer a first floor because it is easier with a stroller and the little ones really like to feed the ducks that walk right up to the patio.

Okay, I see 122 responses and 77% making smoking/non-smoking their first choice.

As hinted in my original thread, I thought this would be the case. Look for another poll soon asking about the second request you make....this time by DVC home!
