I voted maybe, but doubtful we'll be doing this any time soon, if ever. I don't like at all that they'll give priority to the lounge. It's already a wait a lot of the time, not a long wait, but a wait.
We've never used/needed OTU points, but we sure could've used a discount on regular park tickets this last trip. Kids and I didn't renew our APs, so any ticket savings would be nice. I think it should just be a normal perk of DVC ownership though, not a paid extra.
Cheap memory maker would be very nice. way too pricey now, we've skippped it lately, but I miss getting park pictures.
I doubt we'll be buying this.

Voted maybe. Most likely benefit to us would be the 5-day ticket with 1 day Waterpark. I think the lounge will be a longer wait in the future, so we'll probably use it for that as well.

I"m super interested to see the discount for the park tickets.

I'm thinking it will be 10% or so. 20% would be nice but surprising.

Anyone wanna take a guess as to when DVC deigns to tell us the prices on the tickets? I'm going with Nov 12th for no particular reason.

😁

So, those enrolled in this program will be able to purchase up to 12, for $240 and get 24, that will cost $480 for those not in the program.
That's a big thing I'm not sure people are understanding. If you aren't purchasing more than 12 OTUP then it really isn't going to help.

Open to resale and absolutely
That's how it should be, free to direct members as an actual "perk" & open to resale to purchase.

I'm a no vote, on principal alone, I don't like the thought of dividing DVC members into tiers.
I feel the same, but I'm also resale only so I don't really have a choice. lol

Doesn’t the $99 gets you more than just OTU points though?

Sure, If you only buy for that, then yes, you get the highest savings if you buy the maximum of 12. But, buying as few as 5…to get 10..is enough to cover the fee.

However, for that same $99, you also get Memory Maker, the 5 day ticket with water park day discount, the waiving of the Disney collection fee, and can now use points instead of cash an AP,

So, I think its going to be pretty easy with all the options to do more than break even.

There are just so many combinations that an owner can do here with all the options included.

The fact that I am going to be able save on my AP buy using points I don’t need in 2025 instead of cash is a big one..not to mention the savings

Will this make sense for everyone? Of course not but it’s pretty hard to argue that for 2025, anyone buying it won’t get their moneys worth from it.

Yes definitely, I was just referring to people saying the OTUP was a big selling factor, & i'm not sure they need more than 12 at a time.

I think it's a no for me. I don't like the idea of buying priority for the member lounge. I already don't like dealing with all the lightning lane business that I can't keep up with. This is just a long line of recent changes to Disney as a whole that I find unappealing. What is the most suspect for me is the fire sale of OTU points. This tells me DVC is sitting on too many points which means DVC is oversaturated. It used to be special to own DVC, but the way they are building endless amounts, while loading up the theme parks with DVC kiosks instead of attractions. We bought our first contract during a time when our guide told us the 3 D's...Disney Doesn't Discount and I laughed and said where do I sign... Disney was truly special back then. Addonits was real, but I think I'm finally cured.

But you don’t have to buy OTU points all ar once. Same rules that exist now for buying apply with this.

You simply won’t have the deal for more than 12 because the 24 maximum per membership is not changing

If I need six for one reservation , I will pay for 3. If I need them for another trip , I can buy some more and pay for only half of them.

I haven’t bought many OTU points as it won’t me my primary reason for buying, but at BOGO free? I might end up buying some instead of borrowing since I am already buying into the program.

Oooohhhh.. I thought you had to buy 12 in order to get the discount/matched. So I'm the one not understanding it. :)

Best strategy is to spend $99. Get a 20pt room with OTUP for $100. Stalk to modify BW for dangling nights of 9-10pts (there’s 80 per year) and sell them on conf res site for $300 a pop. Walk away with $401 and the other perks for free 😂 That’s the DVC Math!

Lol, that's when they'll start cracking down on renting.

I voted yes. I initially heard about this right after the LLPP announcement and dismissed it, but after thinking about it for a few days, I think it'll save my family money. The big one is the 5 day ticket as that's what we usually get, paired with a party ticket. We have also purchased OTUP and Memory Maker on occasion, so I'll be happy to get those as well. I don't really care for the lounges, there's a lot of other places I'd rather spend my time, but I'm happy with the three I will use.

I answered Maybe, because that’s all I can say at this time. Our next trip starts just before this does, we already have our tickets so the discounted 5-day tickets are irrelevant, and we’re not planning any trips where we might need OTUP nor do we expect to find an AP justifiable this year. But as time goes on we’ll keep this in mind, and if we decide we can benefit by buying, we’ll buy it.

We are already divided into tiers. There are direct members with 150 or more points, direct members with fewer points who purchased before the next level of blue card restrictions went into effect, resale members who purchased before resale restrictions on where points could be used, resale members who are grandfathered into blue cards and resale owners who purchased while those points could be used for resort rooms, cruises, etc.

DVC has been dividing us into so many classes of ownership for years. This is just another tier of membership except this one affects all direct blue card members, too.

I am really struggling with the amount of angst that people are having with the program. When we bought DVC, we were buying the ability to have accommodation at certain resorts. There was no guarantee of any extras beyond that, including any new resorts or in park lounges. Our dues pay for the maintenance of our home resort, not other benefits.

Some chose to purchase resale and saved a lot of money. Some chose to buy direct, and as direct customers of DVC are eligible for access to certain things, which change over time.

I don't see a class system here, any more than having people pay for VIP tickets at shows or first class on airplanes or a host of other upcharges. I am concerned that people are getting upset about this and their attitude toward their DVC membership has been negatively impacted and they haven't lost what they purchased -- the accommodation at wonderful resorts for a period of time. I see a wonderful DVC community, not a community where people look at each other differently based on how they purchased their points.

I do believe that the direct purchase international community was treated differently in that they cannot purchase the Beyond benefits like their US counterparts, even though they paid direct prices. My guess is that it has to do with regulations or something that DVC will address as time passes. Does international have other benefits to offset this -- I think I have seen tickets that can only be purchased by UK/EU visitors?
