So I have noticed that other than a couple people, most do not own that many points at VGC. Is that because you where already owners at other resorts and this was a last minute add on or because people are not impressed with VGC??? My hubby and I just bought in last year and have got all our points at VGC. We just did another add on and our thinking of doing another because we are worried they will sell out, any thoughts on the selling out?
We think it is a gorgeous resort, simply lovely. We'd love to stay there -- but we don't find it makes sense for us to own there. Our (personal) reasons against ownership:
  • We already own plenty of points at a WDW property. Most of these points were purchased long before GCV was on the announced horizon.
  • Our trips to Disneyland tend to be rather "last minute." We'd never plan anything more than a few months out. Best case, we'd book around D23 events as soon as they are published -- but often these leave fewer than 7 months for planning purposes. Owning GCV points would only be helpful if we were able to book 7-11 months from travel.
  • We find the number of points per night to be on the high side. While we usually book 1BRs at WDW ... we'd have to drop to Studios at GCV. I know my DH would soon be grumbling about the missing jetted tub!
  • There are plenty of hotels, even off-property, w/in easy walk of the two parks,.
  • We own two other timeshares w/in a long'ish walk of the parks.
  • If we bought a small add-on through Disney, it would be the same UY as our WDW points. Our SoCal travel pattern is completely different than our WDW travel patterns and we'd rather a different UY if buying a SoCal property.
  • If we can find a small resale package with the desired UY at the price that matches our original WDW purchase we might give it a try.
Lovely place, we hope to stay sometime ... but don't see the value in owning until that last bullet is met. (I'm guessing that won't be anytime too soon.)

We own 140 there although I had intended to own less but b/c of being a lucky founding member I had to purchase more! Anyway - we added that on b/c we take shorter trips there compared to when we fly across the country to FL but I wanted to be certain to have the 11 month window since it's so small.

I love the resort - it's my favorite DVC. If I hadn't already owned other WDW points it's possible I might have bought only at VGC and just booked at 7 months at WDW.

It has been announced the VGC is in it's final selling phase. June UY points are gone and from what I hear Aug and Sept are getting low also. They now expect it to sell out sometime during the summer and this time it was an official announcement - not a rumor from a guide. There will always be points available thru DVC as they get them thru ROFR but you may have to wait for them and of course the resale market too in case you weren't able to buy more immediately.

320 points here and it it still not enough. lol I would love to add on more but just don't have the extra cash right now for it. I also have 150 SSR points that I can try to use at the 7 month window during the years I am not going to WDW.

210 points here. We are seriously considering waitlisting for a 25-50 point add on to our June UY. This is our only DVC and we plan on using it at WDW and Hawaii at 7 month mark.

Yeah I know what you mean. We bought, first time ever, into DVC with VGC last April/May and have already done 2 different add-ons, the most recent was 125 more just last week, and we still want more points. My husband wanted to buy 250 this last time but I couldn't do it.:scared1:

When I use to read about addonitis, I had no idea.

We started off with 162 to do a 1 bedroom every other year then decided to add on 100 so every other year we would do studio, now looking at adding on another 100 this weekend during SWW at DW so we would have points to play with.

I would love, love, love to own VGC points. It's not in the budget right now, so we hope to buy resale one day. We like to go for a few days on my breaks from school, and so I can plan those in the over 7-11 month window. I do however love the Disneyland hotel as well, especially the new decor in the rooms, and if finances are different (and they should be since we should be back to two full incomes once the kids are bigger and in school) and Disneyland Hotel points are being sold I will certainly snatch them up. I expect since it will not be a 4 star hotel like the Grand Californian, the point chart will be more reasonable.

We've been members since 2005 and we started with SSR. We've since sold those contracts to purchase our 280 VGC points. I wish all our points were at VGC, but we still have a small 100 pt AKV contract. We never seem to have enough points between our extended family visits.

I talked with my Guide and he said that people can still get a June UY but they can't get it with the 09' points. If we want to buy more points we can with our UY just have to start with this years points. I would love to get 09' points still but I don't know if it is worth it to change my use year, since we currently have all our points in June. Can anyone elaborate on how hard it is to manage different UY's?:confused3

We are going to add 100 pts this weekend when we are on property and instead of June we will get Dec UY so we get the extra 100 pts, It doesn't matter to me what UY they give me I don't want to give up 100 pts.

We have a different UY for BLT, I don't think it is hard to manage at all, maybe someone who has had trouble can explain.

I know this was set up for a poll but I had to post this picture of my 3 year old who loves the swinging Buckets.:rotfl: Maybe it is because she is to young to realize, but that is her favorite ride at DCA. Her daddy is holding HER hand not the other way around, and no she isn't crying she is cracking up. Excuse the messy shirt it was from yummy strawberry bar.

"swinging buckets" :lmao: OK, if you say so.

We bought 150 points although now that we had our one big family night at VGC, we have some serious thinking to do. We might need more

Just added-on another 55 this past weekend, second add-on there. We're now at 205 at VGC. Still "not enough", but it will have to do. ;) It definitely is my favorite DVC property, but VWL and AKV are tied for 2nd - but we also love the THV's.

My guide said prices are going up to 120 per point on July 15th, of course we don't know what incentives will be. Now the big question is do we do another add on this quick. We really want to get to 1000 points.:rotfl:

You do know you're asking the wrong people...we'll all say GO FOR IT, you know you want to!!!

With that answer ACDSNY it sounds like I am asking exactly the right people then.:rotfl2:

Honey it isn't my fault THEY made me do it.:sad2:

Thought this would be nice to post, to make us all feel closer to the VGC.:thumbsup2:love:

Hey! How did you get my desktop on the DISboards? :rotfl:

We own 165, but plan to add on another 50 (which still wouldn't change our level on your poll). We have 248 SSR points, and never even considered buying at the VGC until we had to cancel a WDW vacation and had points that we had banked the previous year. Our only option was use them at the GCH hotel or rent them (not going to happen). We stayed 3 different one night stays during the 2009 F&W Festival. On the last night, I was laying in my (non whirlpool) tub, thinking that once the Villas opened up here, we couldn't use our points at the hotel, and there's no way we'd get rooms at 7 mos. during F&W. That next day we met with our guide. The MOST we could rationalize was 150, but we dawdled and within two weeks the incentives went up allowing us to get an additional 15 points for the same money!

We mostly plan to stay in studios, though we did get a 1 br once so far and have another in September for Destination D. It's hard to justify spending that much on a timeshare less than 1/2 an hour from your house!

Two different DVC Kiosk CMs we spoke with this weekend told us that there are changes a'foot. In both cases the info was "volunteered" w/out our asking anything about the topic. It seems we might get the chance to use our points at the GC Hotel again in the (near?) future!

I can't go back! The Villas are just too nice, the rooms are much more spacious than the hotel rooms and I want my Microwave and toaster, plus the glasses and not having to bring my own paper utensils. However....if a waitlist was bleak for coming through a week before my desired date.... :rolleyes1
