That probably goes hand in hand with the Bush Administrations 2%, yes, 2%, approval rating with blacks in last week's NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. Ouch!!!! Turn out the lights...the party's over.... :rotfl:

Yea, he'll never get reelected now.

This country is basically split 50/50. Bush claimed to be the one who would unite us. Well, we can see how well that turned out  . I see no one on the horizon who can actually accomplish this feat (donkey or elephant). The dems might actually pick up a few seats in 2006 and that will sharpen the dividing line even more. So it looks like this partisan bickering is going to continue no matter who wins the White House in 08. I can't think of anyone who is going to appeal to both sides of the aisle. So that probably means nothing major is going to get accomplished in the forseeable future without a huge cat fight.

I remember hearing that the country is 45-45-10. Where 45% will always vote for one of the two parties and the remaining 10% are the swing vote. That is why you see each party doing "odd" things. It is to get the 10% to vote for them.

Actually, they said the percentage of 2004 "undecided" was the smallest in recent history. Most people had already made up their minds. I guess the 2008 percentage will depend on the candidates chosen.

Uh...Condi's part of the Bush Administration and the opinion that she wouldn't get black votes just because she's black was the point of my post. Honestly Richie, do you read through the thread before you post, or do you just play dumb to make a feeble attempt at a witty retort? No matter how you spin it, Condi being part of a very unpopular administration isn't going to get her elected Pres, if she indeed decides to run!

Oohhhh, who's a bright boy today!

Honestly LOG, it doesn't require much thought to reply to your posts.

And I'll say it to you again, use the ignore feature if you just can't resist me on your own.

No matter how you spin it, Al Gore being part of a very popular administration didn't get him elected President.

So you can be part of a popular administration and not get elected or be part of an unpopular administration and not get elected.

Good point.

I think both are true. I'd actually call this a pretty balanced forum; on the one hand, you have richiebaseball, Dawn, yourself and JoeEpcotRocks and on the other hand you have myself, MizBlu, septbride and so on.

Rich::
It's pretty balanced, I'll grant you, but to say one over the other, I would have to say it's more liberal than conservative (didn't we do a poll on this a few months (years) back?).

Wow! Another nice addition to the debate followed by scorching putdown!! Ouch! :rotfl:

I see no reason to hit ignore, Richie. I figure, you've got to be running out of right wing bumper stickers to quote, so your time here on the DIS has got to be coming to an end pretty soon anyway...I mean, there's only so many cars you can wash down at Ernie's Discount Car Wash in a lifetime, so you've easily burned through all of your Grade-A political points by now.

Plenty of bumper stickers left, thanks. I may stick around just for you.

I'll tell Ernie you said hey.

I'm stopping in for a "drive-by" because I'm off to WDW this afternoon.

Current events have taken over this WH and the Republicans. It's not that this place is more liberal. It's that conservatives, for the most part, cannot defend this administration. There's a few stragglers, but they're at the point of just regurgitating old talking points that don't stand up to the realities of Katrina, FEMA ( I wonder what Brownie had for dinner), Rove, Libby, the rising casualty count in Iraq, gas prices, upcoming home heating costs, etc. They can no longer defend the indefensible and not look hopelessly out of touch.

This administration has pulled out all the stops and nothing's working. Mainstream America has left the Bush administration and the Republicans. And the only ones who don't seem to be aware of it are the few die-hards as evidenced here.

Putting the numbers together you get

Very Conservative/Conservative 39.91%
Very Liberal/Liberal 41.74%
Moderate/Don't Care 18.35%

These two polls show the same thing and both prove nothing (no the DIS is not a true cross-section of US voters).
