I really want the opinions of members who consider OKW their favorite resort.

What resort, if any, is your second-favorite? I'm not including resorts not open yet.

It's supposed to read "DVC resort" in the poll, not DLC!!

I fell in love with OKW from the get go, and that still holds true today. With all of the OKW bashing I read on these boards, I can honestly say that my experiences have all been wonderful. I like and frequent all of the other DVC resorts, but I only have one favorite, OKW, the other resorts all fall into second favorites.

If it were not for OKW, I wouldn't own DVC. It is the only DVC resort I care about staying at. But,,,,,,,,,,,,,I DO LOVE IT!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

OKW and SSR are my two favorites for sure. I fell in love with VWL when we stayed there last August, so it's a very close 3rd.

We own at OKW and AKV, and I put AKV as the second choice. We would like VWL if we stayed there, I'm sure, but it is too much like our home, so we don't stay there.

Ditto above. We liked the location and quiet of SSR too, but the non-OKW resorts have the craziest arrangement of doors that just drive me crazy! AKV doesn't have that issue. It does have a few other issues, but it's definitely our first choice after OKW.

We really love OKW and would choose HH as our 2nd favorite - fortunately, we own at both! :teeth:

We have stayed in all of the DVC resorts open at this time and can certainly make compliments about each one. Each is truly unique - whether for it's theme, decor, location or ambiance. We wouldn't hesitate to stay in any of them.

We like HH so much that we purchased a condo across the marina from the Disney resort and see it every morning from our balcony! We now use our HH points for a GV for our kids/grandkids and we stay in the condo - where it's a little quieter and where we have a primo view of the summer fireworks each week and yet are a 5 minute walk from our family! :teeth:

I've only stayed at 3 DVC resorts: OKW (home), BCV and HHI.

I really, really disliked HHI, but I liked BCV. I absolutely LOVE Old Key West :lovestruc

We just fell in love with OKW since the first time we were there in 2003. We've tried booking other DVC resorts but we always end up staying @ OKW. I know people like being closer to MK, Epcot, etc. but to us that doesn't matter. We just luv, luv OKW:lovestruc

OKW is our favorite and it feels like our second home.
We have stayed at all but the new BLT and the Tree Houses. (just to try them for a few days out of our vacations)
OKW wins hands down!
If I ever change resorts then 2nd choice is BWV. We own there too. Just rarely go there.

This was tough. I love my OKW, but 2nd place is probably a toss up. I picked AKV because it's REALLY unique ,but if it's October I want BCV LOL!

I love OKW and SSR is a close second as it's got the same spacious feel and I love the shorter walk to DTD. Now if SSR had balconies as large as OKW (esp on the first floor), it might be an even closer match.

I have to research VWL as we've never been there and so many people rave about them... :surfweb:

OKW was our first experience with DVC accommodations and we loved it! We purchased at AKV, but it is really hard to pick which one is our favorite. They are such polar opposites. I love the grounds of OKW and the fact that we can park right outside our door. The color scheme is so light and sunny that even rainy days feel a little brighter. The rooms are as big as our house so that is a huge positive!

OTOH, AKV has those 1BR's at Kidani that have 2 bathrooms. That is a huge plus when we have 3 ladies to get ready in the morning...and afternoon...and evening!:rotfl: (OK, so our girls are only 3 and 5 right now...I'm planning ahead!) Then, of course, there is the animals. Our kids LOVE animals, especially the big game type. DH is an avid hunter so he sees them a little differently than I do...like, hanging on our wall! The resort's dark decor adds a nice "outdoorsy" feeling to it. I love the campfires and that wonderful, smoky fragrance that seems to linger outside. Oh, and the smells coming from Boma....:cloud9: .

It was a very hard decision when we decided to buy in to DVC. We knew that we would only be able buy 100 points so we wanted them all at one resort. We opted to buy at AKV since we figured we would need the home-resort advantage there, especially when we want to stay value and stretch our points. With OKW as big as it is, we figured that 7-month availability should not be too big of an issue. We are a family of 4 so we could take a studio or 1BR, or even a 2BR if we had the points. I look forward to using our membership to take trips at both AKV and OKW.

Resort selection is largely a matter of personal preference. We have enjoyed all our stays at the resorts. Here is how we rank the DVC resorts

1. AKV / OKW

AKV: savanna/animals, theme (African thatched-roof, hewn-timber lodge in a savanna setting inspired by the historic expeditions of 19th century), concierge (sunrise and sunset safaris), possibly the best executed immersive theme on property and Jiko

OKW: style (condo), theme (Caribbean influenced, Key West style Victorian), value (points, dues, villa sizes), laid back atmosphere and Olivia's (particularly when eating outside), boat rentals for canals and DD lake

2. BCV / VWL

BCV: location (adjacent to Epcot, near Studios and Boardwalk), SAB, theme (early 20th century Mid-Atlantic "stick-style" seaside resort), 11 month booking for December to enjoy CP/Illuminations and a short walk home afterward, great selection of restaurants from Studios to Epcot and the resorts in between

VWL: theme (early 1900s railroad workers' lodge, pre-dating the adjacent grand National Park Service lodge), very relaxing, another great December (holiday decorations) or January (cool weather) resort, restaurants at WL with Poly and Contemporary nearby, on the lake (views and boat rentals) and boat transportation

3. VB: Atlantic beach resort with an OKW feel to it, very relaxing, and not too far from Disney

4. BWV / SSR

BWV: location along the "Boardwalk" and reduced point rooms, same great restaurant opportunities as BCV

SSR: location (near DD and OKW), great resort to walk around, restaurants (DD and proximity to Olivia's), theme (Turn-of-the-century (circa 1900) Upstate New York grand resort destination)

5. HH: Very nice resort and staff with fine restaurants within walking distance or a short drive, split resort (separate beach house) not as desirable as a single beach front property but is well executed, just too far (six hour drive) for an Orlando resident to go for golf, tennis and beaches

Looking forward to visits to THV, BLT and VGC to see how they fit into this.

I voted for AKV because it is our second home on WDW property BUT both OKW and AKV were add-ons to our initial contract at VB. We love all 3 but for different reasons. My ideal vacation is spending the first few nights at VB to relax, a little time at AKV to enjoy the ambience (and the restaurants), and then spend the majority of the time at OKW. The other two are for "fun" and doing something a little different, but OKW will probably always be our true "home".:cool1:

Ok, I don't post much, but here goes. I discovered OKW in 1993, finally bought in 1997. So upset that i missed out on all of the original "3 mountain" logos before they went away. Quite honestly, I don't know how any one can compare. We OKW owners are very lucky. OKW was built before Disney reaaly knew what they had. The resort is in a leauge of it's own. Vero Beach was built about the same time and is almost a mirror image, aside from the beach cottages, which are fantastic as well. Other tham SSR, all of the other resorts are a hotel add on, with the same feel.(flames!!). Hallways and doors!! Large parking lots with long walks. I love the action of the parks, fireworks and great resturants, but after all of that, it's nice to be able to leave that all behind for the evening, sip a scotch on the balcony( room for 6) and watch the boats, birds, or water depending on your view. I never ask for a particular view, I like the adventure of what's next. We have shared this many times with freinds. That is the best part. I will never forget, back in 1998. We met a group of 8. Had 2 Grand Villas side by side. These people have never been here before, they walked in in amasement. The comment from one was "oh.... i dont know if we can live like this." FYI, all of this group now owns.
Well enough rambling. I am sitting on my back patio in Phoenix (80 degrees today) waiting for October. Planning a trip for then.

We own OKW and VWL - Our 1st DVC stay was at OKW by default(nothing else available) From the moment we arrived we fell in love with it and ended up buying 2 resales for OKW

Our 2nd favorite(not VWL:confused3 ) Is BWV I love being able to walk to 2 parks and the entertainment on the Boardwalk

So love OKW because its away from the park scene and love BWV because its in the middle of the park scene:rotfl:

I couldn't vote on the poll because Vero and Hilton Head are tied for 2nd after OKW. Thank goodness for OKW because we would have never purchased DVC at any other resort and then we wouldn't have visited Vero and Hilton Head in that order and added points at both resorts. We have stayed at every onsite DVC except SSR and AKLV (stayed in AKL). Don't care to stay anywhere but OKW, Vero and HH.
