Poll: Do you vote the same party as your parents did?

This will sound weird to many people, but I could not say how my parents voted. While candidates were always discussed from every angle, usually the issues were complicated enough that it was not a "given" who anyone was voting for. Of course, in Canada it is a completely different system. We did not register for any party. And a third party candidate was a much more viable option because we are voting for seats in parliament. It was much more possible to "vote strategically".

Growing up my family voted Democrat. I was the first to register as a Republican. Now my parents usually vote Republican, although they're still registered as Dems. They will probably switch parties when they move.

My mom is a big time liberal. I am far from that. We always tread lightly when talking politics. Although I DID go see Fahrenheit 9/11 with her, I guess she thought I might start leaning her way.

Didn't vote because there was no option for my answer.
I don't know how my folks vote. We don't talk about it. I think I know, but it has no bearing on my vote. I don't necessarily disagree with different votes, they are just different opinions than mine.

I can't choose any of those because I have no idea what my parents voted. Politics were never discussed in my house. My Dad was a Democrate and I think my Mom is too...I never asked her and she has never said. They never told me to register for a party one way or the other. My Dad was upset because I have no affiliation so I can't vote in the primaries...but that was as far as that went.

I can't vote either. Mom is a Democrat and my Dad was a Republican. I am a registered Republican but that doesn't mean I'm loyal to President Bush. I vote for whoever I think will do the best job.

My family are all Reoublicans and so am I however I vote that way because I choose to not just because that was how I was raised.

1 parent is a Republican, 1 parent is a Democrat. So, yes, sometimes I agree with one of my parents.

My parents were both Democrats --- but I'm a die-hard, right-winged, conservative, Christian, Republican.
