I know it totally depends on how long you are staying/what you plan to do, just wondering how everyone here buys tickets and why. Because you get a discount on your room? Because you go more than once a year or stay long enough that it just makes sense to get an annual pass? Because of the discounts?

One question: I know only one person in a room has to have an AP to get the room discount. What about dinner shows, etc? Can one person with an AP get a discount for their entire group, or does each person have to have an AP?

Because you go more than once a year or stay long enough that it just makes sense to get an annual pass?

that is my reason.

I only get the annual pass - won't go to the water parks or DQ enough for the extra price.

you can't count on the room discounts.

also you can buy a DDE (disney dinning experience) that follows you and 9 people a 20% discount at most table services - after you buy the AP.

We are going to do the PAPs every other year. This will get our 2 June trips in and then a few filler trips.

Then on our off year we will hit Vero or IOA/US for our Fall/Winter trip.

I usually just get the hoppers, but we were able to get the free ticket upgrade so we have the waterparks and more this year.

We spent an additional $100 for one AP and saved $600 on our hotel room at the WL last year! Plus the DDE card as mentioned above. With 3 children that saved us a bunch also. We are going again this year and still bought the one pass for discounts at quest, and other places. It seemed worth it for us.:wizard:

We got length of stay passes with no extras, so that we could get the package with dining plan for our family trip last month. We had a postcard rate on the room.

The last night, we upgraded to Annual passes for our May trip, so that I could get an AP discounted room. I also purchased the DDE card for this trip.

We will take another family trip next spring on these passes, and maybe another adult trip this fall on them.

We don't go to DQ or water parks(too many little ones to keep track of right now).

We usually get the parkhopper with waterpark option but this year I am skipping the waterpark option because with the little one we dont have time to do the waterparks and I figured we were paying way to much to waste our time in a waterpark.

I always have an AP and get the DDE card with it. I go to WDW at least twice a year. My dd and dh will have 10 day hoppers, non-expire from now on. DD can't miss school anymore and dh just doesn't go as often as I do.

I grew up in Winter Park and still have family in the Orlando area. Thus, we make several trips to central Florida, including WDW (of course!!!) every year. In the past, we have gotten PAPs. However, I'm debating whether that is really necessary for all of us this next time around. It's definitely worth it for older ds who spends most of our visit at DQ; however, the rest of us have to make ourselves visit a water park or two each time we visit. We enjoy DTD and the water parks, but I think we'd be perfectly happy without them.

We normally just buy length of stay park hopper passes. But this year we had already decided to do 5 days in April (we leave Wednesday!) and 8 days in Sept. It was cheaper to buy APs then to buy length of stay park hoppers for both trips. Plus we got the DDE to cover meals not covered by the dining plan. Since we like to have a table service breakfast most days and TS dinner every night, we can save the 20% on our breakfasts and pay out of pocket.
