We are planning on a trip to AKL in Nov 2013 and wanted to know which rooms have the most animal sightings? If you can include trail, floor and specific room number please.

We're on the Sunset Savanah, 5th floor, 1 Bdr, Rm 7968. We've seen lots of Giraffes ( they're out there several times a day ), zebras, Ankole Cattle, ostriches and some other unusual birds. But......I wouldn't stay here again as even though we requested to be close to the lobby we are in the 8th block away from the lobby, 2nd last from the end. Yes the animals are great for the first day or two but the ridiculously long walk to the lobby or pool has ruined our stay here. I' m a walker and my kids are pretty athletic but after a long hot day at the parks walking around for hours you really don't need a further 10 min. walk to your room once you've reached the lobby. If you go to the pool and realise you forgot your sunglasses or iPod.......the 20 min round trip to your room makes you wonder why you paid thousands to stay here!
I'd only stay here again if I was guaranteed a room at a reasonable distance- the animals can all be seen from the lobby so I wouldn't pay extra like we did for a Savannah view and then be in such an inconvenient location.

Sorry. There are not usually any animals in the rooms. They are kept outside to protect them from people.

Oh... did you mean which rooms have the best views of the animals??? IMO the 3rd and 4th floors probably give you the best elevation. Too low and you can't see as far. Too high and the trees can get in the way. Any of the trails will give you a view of the savannah areas. I prefer being further out from the main lobby area, but that's just personal preference.

ETA: It's generally not a good idea to request a specific room number. Chances are too great that it will already be occupied on your arrival day.
