Do you think that Disney will keep the existing expiration dates on the DVC properties, or do you think that sometime down the road they will offer an extension for XX/pp?

DVC has already offered an 15-year extension on OKW for $15 per point. Extended points will now expire in 2057. I'm guessing we'll see something similar at other resorts at some point.

Before the OKW extensions, I would have thought they would keep the dates, however, now I think they will keep extending.

I think that since they had decided to extend OKW we may see this for some of the other resorts, namely SSR. I say some because if this is not working as well as they planned, it may not be as financially feasible for them to keep the others as DVC. But I would assume that they have built many other DVC resort by 2042 to compensate for this.

Just a thought.:confused3

DH and I have been discussing this for some time - and while we would love to see extensions offered at all WDW DVC resorts, we think this might not happen.

OKW & SSR, as stand-alone resorts, can be more easily extended than the other WDW DVC resorts (which rely on their neighboring hotels for amenities).

These "hotel" DVC resorts (BWV, BCV, VWL & AKV) would have to make sure that their hotel portions are kept around for the duration of any extensions. That complicates any possible extensions for them.

I think OKW was a trial run. If they got the response they wanted, they will probably extend the other resorts.

However---that also depends upon what future plans Disney may have for those locations.

Remember that OKW is a stand alone campus, the others are attached to regular hotels...so Disney may want to keep their options open on those properties for re-development or replacement of the hotels in the future, and a longer term DVC lease may prevent them from that.
