seriously? It wasnt a political thread. It was just a funny.
Seriously, you don't think so? You may not have thought it was political but the parody is filled with ideological commentary that is nothing if not political, esp. given the poem's title. Look at the just some of references in the poem:
--"Elves", [or] "Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.
--Labor conditions and unions
--The Humane Society
--The ruts were deemed dangerous by the EPA,
--Second-hand smoke
--[Santa's] fur trimmed red suit was called "unenlightened".
--Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose.
--Geraldo[ Rivera]
--Demanding millions in over-due workers compensation.
--[Santa's] wife ...joined a self help group, packed and left in a whiz,
demanding from now on that her title was Ms.
--and on and on and on with the gifts section
So how is this poem NOT political, unless one takes such a narrow view of politics that it only applies to specific people and not to various platforms?
That said, I enjoy parodies of all kinds--they critique the status quo, and I'm all for that--and enjoyed the OP's post. But I also enjoyed FabShelly's, though they are markedly different in their political stance. And any post that has the title "politically correct Christmas" in its title might expect responses to what the post's content deems politically correct; FabShelly's responses are particularly clever in matching both the OP's content and form.
