Um, California went Red in 80, 84, and 88. It's not an unheard of thing. And they did vote in a Republican governor the last time, right?
California has a LOT of conservative voters, believe it or not. I lived there for 23 years, and although where I am from, the Bay Area, is very liberal for the most part, a lot of the other areas of CA are conservative (Orange County, San Diego area, rural/farm areas).
