Policy changes for FOTL for hotel guests!!??

come on...someone say it ain't so....

I just got off the phone with Universal, and they said it ain't so - it applies to the Express Plus pass you purchase. She assured me the policy for resort guests is still the same, you can ride as many times as you want.

Check out the last post.

mslclark called and well, this is what she posted:
I called Universal this morning. I was told that the policy for on-site resort guests has not changed, that you can still present your room key and get front of the line access as many times as you wish. She said that new rule applied to the Express Plus that you purchase.

So it looks like it was a misunderstanding. At least I hope so!

Incorrect. At select rides, FOTL for resort guests has been reduced to once before 3pm and unlimited after 3pm.

Not all of them, but I remember the following:

Mummy, MIB (I think), Shrek, BTTF, Spider-Man, JP: River Adventure, Hulk

There are more. I will have to re-acquire the Full List.

That's crummy, and I hope it's not permanent. FOTL is one reason I'm willing to pay $200+ a night to stay on site. If I didn't already purchase my airline tickets, I'd have reduced the length of my hotel stay. Some days the parks are only open till 5-5:30 -- so what's that -- 2 and half whole hours of unlimited FOTL? Big deal.

We should start a letter writing campaign to let them know this isn't a welcome change.

Oh sad, sad day...

Dark Marauder--do you know if this a permanent change?? Or is this just for the summer or peak seasons???

I am just heartbroken. My biggest reason for staying on-site this coming Feb (with 5-day passes) was to ride like a thrill-seeking maniac!! I don't want to have to ride like the average joe!!

When I made my ressies, the web page (universalorlando) said that you get unlimited express with your hotel key. IF they are going to change things, they need to update that page!! That is like false advertising. I think that those who make ressies while that page still reads the same should be intitled to what it states. Policies that are subject to change should not matter. I want what was promised at the time of booking!!

Boy, am I a whaaaaaaaa baby or what!

Wanted to add what I just remembered...I called the loews # when I made my ressie and the VERY kind gentleman SAID that staying on-site also included FOTL priviledges. He never said limited....hmmmm, am thinking I will call back and see what they have to say....

Sooooo........after 3 pm, when EVERY US hotel guest gets full use of their fotl room keys at the same time.......wow, so much for quick rides on anything............I forsee a stampede of people lining up for the attractions mentioned...AND the lines that go with them. I really can't see paying all that extra $$ to stay onsite anymore. You could stay offsite at one of the nicer hotels, buy an express pass and accomplish the same thing as staying onsite, and have $$$ to spend on other stuff outside US parks.

I wouldn't doubt it. I inquired about this at guest relations awhile back and they told me firsthand they were thinking about doing this. Something about fairness to day guests. Do like I did and complain and let them know how you feel. I've complained before and it does work. just tell them if they change the FOTL policy, you will stay at Disney next time and watch their eyes light up ;) Linda

This has been confirmed. I have called RPR Concierge, US Guest Services, Passholder line, and 800-BE-A-STAR. The Concierge and Guest services confirmed this. The other two had no idea. I've got some phone calls into some managers and awaiting them to call back. This is not right to book a room at $200 under the assumption of something, and not getting that product. If this stays the same, I will stay at Disney. My friend and I go twice a month and stay usually at the Portofino Bay. Well Disney can take my money then, if Universal doesn't want it. I will get FOTL all day during my trip. Trust me! :) Going next Sunday! I'm not a happy camper!

Now I feel SO great that I'm paying $200+ a night to stay onsite. This is my first time onsite, since I'm being forced to take a break from Disney, and I might be going back there sooner than I thought.

We can all thank the new owners of Universal for this. things have not been quite right since they sold it the first time. :(

I honestly don't believe this change will last. when they notice a drop in sales, they will either have to lower their hotel rates or give back FOTL privaleges. they will lose money and when they start losing money, they will make changes.

I am quite disapointed that Lowes has made a change too. I called yesterday to find out why I haven't received my platinum card and was told they changed their policy in June that to count qualifying stays for member status, you must book through Lowes. it used to be that if you booked through Universal (with APH rate) the stays counted twords your Lowes stays. not anymore. I am a gold member and every stay was with an APH rate which to me has always been better. I guess I will never make it to platinum membership now. :(

Hmmm, it seems that the ride Ops haven't been informed as MIB was still letting hotel guests ride over and over yesterday.

I called the corporate office of the hotel. They said they can't do much because it is Universal that is changing the policy. I informed her that many people are mad over this and they should discuss with Universal. She said she would pass it on to the VP of marketing.

Good thing I got my platinum card before they changed the rules. I got mine about 2 months ago.

They said this is only for the peak season, but I think if enough people call and complain they will change it. Start callin people!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say, I don't like this one bit!

Phone calls will be made!

Help! I think we should send emails to the individual hotel managers and Universal Annual Pass team, marketing, management etc., etc.
Anyone have a good email/address/phone number list?
