I know it's a little early for thinking about Christmas, but my little guy just loves this movie. I was wondering if any has actually gone on the "Polar Express". I know they have trains that run in New Hampshire and other parts of the US in November and December where they try to re-create the story and Santa is there. Has anyone ever done this. It just sounds like great fun and of course being a Disney freak - my accommodations would have to be up to Disney standards - at least with an indoor pool in the dead of winter. I'm in NY - so a drive up to New England wouldn't be too bad. thanks for the input. ..... and a good night to all!

My family goes every year, I have never gone myself, but the kids RAVE about it! They go to the one in NH, and they get a "special" cabin of some sort with a table and all the kids wear their pajamas. The kids LOVE it.

I highly recommend this! I have heard such great things the last two years, I am going this year with the nephews.

There are so many nice places to stay in the area, anything from a bed and breakfast to an econolodge. When you say "Up to Disney accomodations" are we talking Poly or All Star?

Disbridemimi:

Do you know when they start these? Just after Thanksgiving? This is so exciting!

If you want to do the one in North Conway or Lincoln, NH you actually have to enter a lottery to win the opportunity to buy tickets. I think you may also be able to purchase a package for hotel/tickets but I don't personally know anyone who has done that. It is run by a literacy group. You can check out all the details at www.believeinbooks.org then click on the Polar Express event link on the side.

I "won" the lottery twice and took my kids and nephews. We had a good time and we all enjoyed the experience. We all wore our PJ's.

There are several places in North Conway with indoor swimming pools. The Red Jacket Inn even has a large indoor water park.

Yep, we go on it every year, well we have for the past 4 years I think.

We go right down the road from us (about 10 min) to the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat in Essex, CT.

Tickets go on sale in August.

Sea World overlays their Artic ride and the whale area with the Polar Express. It is awesome!!! You ride to the North Pole on the Polar Express. The house with the snowman is there. Then you walk down the hall that is full of presents. There is a conductor by the area with the evergreen trees. When you get to the whale area there is a train station and a line to get to see Santa and his sleigh. The Santa is an exact copy of the one in the movie.

We've done the one in N conway, NH. We bought a hotel package (Seasons at Attitash) so we got the tickets with the package. Our kids were 8 & 6 and they really enjoyed it, especially the 6 yr old.

Last year, I made a Polar Express gift set for my son for Christmas. I got him the book, a robe and slippers, hot cocoa and his own mug, a bell, a toy train, stickers, "tickets" and a hole puncher (the best gift - he loves hole punching!), conductor's hat, bandana, train whistle, and a train cookie cutter with coupons to make cookies with mom. It was a really well received gift by my little train lover! We haven't gone on the Polar Express train; I haven't seen it offered in our area.

My DDs have gone the last two years. It is something special they do with their grandfather. The train leaves and returns right down the street from us, so we don't need accomodations, although there are some nice ones in the area.
