Polar Express movie...help me understand why everyone raves about it.

That movie is magical to me too, and watching it with my kids helped, and seeing it a lot. I didn't like it at all when I first saw it, and didn't understand the hype at all. That song really captures the movie for me.

well, for ds he loves all things trains, so this was a neat glance inside a train. We watch it every Christmas Eve (and we dont do santa) because its now a tradition.

Haven't seen it, but from what I understand it plants a seed of doubt about Santa that I'm just not comfortable with. If this is truly the case, I don't understand why so many grade 1 teachers show it to their classes. For those who believe, it last for such a short time; why shorten it any further? Maybe I'm totally out to lunch, though. I would like to see it myself, though as I have a feeling I would like it, just not for my full believing little ones.

I don't think this is the case at all. I think it shows kids that Santa is real and encourages them to believe. Give it a watch to see for yourself.

My DH really likes it, but I agree with you.
The animation is kind of strangely disturbing. You do get used to it, but something about it still looks 'wrong' to me.
A lot of the situations are scary and some of the characters are pretty scary.
