 Hi!
Does anybody know if they have Pokemon stuff in the Japan shops at Epcot? My son is a rabid fan, and I read they have Yi-gi-oh items there, and since it is the same genre, I was hoping they might have Pokemon stuff as well. He's saving his allowance to buy "gadgets" at Future World and hopefully Pokemon at Japan...mommy's buying the mouse ears and Tshirts!
If anyone has seen them in their travels, I'd love to know what to tell him!
Thanks!

I know that they used to have Pokemon whatnot....My DD was a huge fan...

I just asked her & she said that she thought that they still had cards & figurines.

Cheers! :flower:

That would be amazing. DD8 is a pokemon fanatic and woudl have no idea that you could buy Pokemon items at Epcot.

Anyone have any ideas as to what Pokemon merchandise is offered. If not, tell me more about what cards/figurines are offered?

Thanks
Suzy V.

Our family are big time Pokemon fans since 1999.
In Epcot in Japan they had a few Pokemon things and other Japanese character things. This was last Dec.
I just asked my son. He said they had packs of trading cards in both English and Japanese for Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. He said he didn't see any Pokemon figures or other Pokemon toys.
They had a lot of Hello Kitty items.
They had some action figure items of Dragonball Z and such, but my son said they were pretty much like they had at Toys R Us, except more expensive.

We are leaving in 2 weeks. My son is excited to see if they have anything new.

When are you leaving? If it's after October 8th (that's when we get back), I'll post and let you know what we see. We are definately checking out Japan in Epcot. My son has been saving his money to do so.

Edited: I just now saw your countdown thing. I will post and let you know what I see after we get back in Oct. unless someone else lets you know first. :wizard:

My son is big on the cards. He's planning to enter one of the tournaments, but I told him we could plan on that when our Disney trip is over - I'm too busy planning that right now! :)
Thanks for the info! He'll be really excited.

In July 2004 my son was able to get Pokemon tatoos, cards and a Pokemon binder to hold all (well at least some) of his cards.

they do have pokemon and yugioh cards and little stuff, but marked up way higher than you can get at a local card shop or even target/walmart.

:sunny: We might just see if there is some stuff we can't get locally. And he might pick up a few Japanese language cards. He can't read it, but he can tell what it is because they have identical ones in English, and he thinks they look neat!

I was also thinking it might be nice to get something for DD that she can't get at home. We have only ever bought Pokemon stuff at Walmart and yard sales.

When I was there, they had the same toys as we have over here, with the Japanese packaging. They did have t-shirts too. But that was about a year ago. they had a TON of Hello Kitty stuff.

When I was 17 (now 25) I was working at Toys R Us and managing the pokemon dueling league! :earseek: I can't believe it hasn't died yet. I have all the old gameboy games too

For some reason I feel the need to post that if your kid's into Yu-gi-oh be careful when buying the Japanese versions of the cards. A few of them were changed when they were Americanized, because they had sexually suggestive or violent looking illustrations.

Anybody know if the dueling leage exists anywhere in Canada or how to find info. on it? DD wants to join but I don't know where to find info. on it. She watched a Pokemon movie two nights ago and I think it was mentioned on there. I would prefer for her to wait until she is older since she is only 8.

Can't wait for her to see the Pokemon stuff at Epcot. I hope they are still selling tshirts.

Yes please post after you come back. I just informed my son that there might yu gi oh or pokemon stuff and he is so excited about it. He is into Dragonball Z also. Could you see if there is any of Dragonball Z stuff.

Thanks :earsgirl:

You know, my husband (yes husband) was into Pokemon a couple years ago. We still have a ton of cards from the first couple series or what not. If you might be interested I can dig them out, make a list and you guys can see if any of your kids are interested. They are in a box of stuff my husband doesn't want but doesn't want to throw out either lol...PM me, I'll try and start the list tonight, it is a LOT of cards lol

I'm BTT this thread because I said I'd let you know what the Japan pavilion had as far as Pokemon items go.

They had Pokemon card packs and decks. These are only in English and are priced higher than the stores like Target. They are exactly the same. I thought they would carry Japanese Pokemon card, but they didn't. Just regular everyday Pokemon cards. They had a 3 ring binder there for $16. It was American and had Ash,Brock, Misty on one side and a Pokemon on the back. Funny because we bought that same exact binder on clearance about 4 years ago at Toys R Us. lol.

They had ballcaps that look just like Ash's hat. Those are $19.99. I bought one for DS.

They had tshirts, but all in child size small and 1 medium. The shirts were $26 and had Rayquaza on them. They had a little coin purse thing that looked like it was made of canvas. That was $9. The bigger messenger bag type was $30. It was olive green and made of canvas.

They had some little plastic figures on a base. Those were $16. They were small and only had a few common characters like Pikachu and Meowth. They had a Pokemon Origami book for $10. That book had punchouts of some pokemon that you could fold into origami shapes. There was only 1 in stock when we were there.

They also had a fabric game playing mat for the trading card game.. It's similar to the paper ones you get when you purchase a deck of cards at WalMart. That was $30. My son wanted to get it until he saw the price.

The section for Pokemon was very small compared to the Hello Kitty section.
I thought it was way overpriced, too. We were so disappointed since we are big Pokemon fans here.

They did have Yu-Gi-Oh cards in both American version and in Japanese. Of course, the American packs were priced about $2 per pack higher than Target or KMart, and they are exactly the same ones. The Japanese ones my son thought were neat. He bought 3 packs, but accidentally left them on a bench at Biergarten. :(

They had some Anime books about how to draw. They were between $20 and $24 depending on the book.

They had some DragonballZ items. They had a tshirt with DragonballZ on it and a shirt with Godzilla. They had some Power Rangers things, but all were American and again overpriced.

Just letting you know what we found. I was going to take photos, but security on the way down dropped my camera, so my photos indoors did not turn out at all.

I hope this helps those who were wondering about the Pokemon items at the Japan pavilion in Epcot.

Thanks so much for the info. We will be in world showcase Jan 6 and will check it out then. Even is DD just bought a pack or two of cards she would be happy. Or maybe also the binder for $16, if they still have one.

Thanks again for the details.

Thank you so much for all the info. It sounds like we might be able to get a few cute things - only cards are available (not counting games and DVD's), and even those aren't being carried by many stores. He would love to have a T-shirt and probably the hat (of course, he wears OU hat now -- I guess he can swap after football season!).
We kept away from Yi-gi-oh. I can only take so many trading cards, and I never liked watching it on TV, it always seemed so dark.
Some of the stuff does seem overpriced, but I guess that is Disney.
Again, thank you for taking a look. We'll definately stop by the stores (but not to eat; DH doesn't like Japanese :sad1: )

Thanks so much for the info. My son will be really happy. He loves yu gi oh and Dragonball Z.

DS10 is a BIG Pokemon fan and we always have to make a couple of visits to the Japan pavillion every trip. We have found that the merchandise changes every year. For a while they sold only the cards...then they got the Pikkachu backpack..then some figurines...Ash's hat...some figurines..binders..etc. It is always fun to check it out but we haven't seen anything that we can't get cheaper locally. (Target can be a good source for the toys)

Pokemon Rocks America is currently on tour and coming to Boston next weekend (10/22)!! It is at the Bayside Expo Center and we are all looking forward to it. The kids are going to wear their Pokemon airbrushed shirts they got up in Maine 2 summers ago...and their hats..and whatever else. We have never been to anything like it so we are interested in seeeing what they have.

Jill....DS was the Pokemon card champ of RI in 2004...and he plays at a league locally. Good thing for him and DH to do together...

DD8 really wants to join a pokemon league. Does anyone have any info. on a web site to look at for more info. We are north of Toronto so I realize that this might not be an option for her.
Thanks

Re prices, we visited from UK in 2002 and bought yu-gi-oh merchandise just not available in the UK for comparable prices, the card packs were priced lower than the UK even at Epcot (not sure what that says about the UK market). My son will be 12 on halloween and now has much more expensive tastes (Playstation/PC/Gamecube/DS). Actualy we now share PC games that were previously 100% mine....:-( LOLOLOL
