Hello all,
We are trying to cement the plans for our Thanksgiving trip and are debating back and forth about the first couple days...thought I would see what any of you would do in our place.
Currently we will be checking in to the VWL in a 1br on Tuesday, November 22 and staying there through December 4th. As it stands, we are on the waiting list for November 24th - the actual Thanksgiving night. We do have a cash reservation for that night so we are covered. However, it's $490 (tax included) and they can't guarantee we could keep the same room - although they will try. I do have faith in the WL - it has come through for us before - but close to $500 for one night just in case is daunting.
Therefore, we have started thinking about maybe staying at WL from Tuesday through Saturday morning - paying cash for a standard view room, if possible. This would save us 150 points to use later...but would definitely cost more than the $490. We've thought about trying a moderate (POFQ or such) but there is just something about the atmosphere at WL we love so much for the holidays - including Thanksgiving.
We had also thought about splurging on WL Concierge, but scrapped that idea to try again during a time that isn't such high rates.
What would you all choose? We don't plan to do much in the parks until after Thanksgiving so perhaps more room is desirable. But I don't want to be "homeless" potentially for a few hours on Thanksgiving day. And it is appealing to save the points and use them for our next trip.
I know there are much more serious dilemmas out there - but just wanted to know what anyone else would choose/has chosen in this situation in the past.
thanks!
