Points usage and New Years Eve

We are looking to go to Disney for Christmas break next year and stay through the new year. My question is how does the points work? If I stay from Dec 27th - Jan 3rd?

Would Dec 27 - Dec 31 pull from 2015 points and Jan 1 - Jan 3 pull from 2016 points? And if so can I book online with no issues?

Any suggestions staying for New Years in Disney?

What is your UY?

You use that as your calendar for booking. Since there is no January UY, you can book your stay for all nights at once. Start your booking at your home resort on Jan 27 for all your nights. More than likely you will use your 2015 UY points, unless you used them all already.

My UY is Feb. But I thought the points are from Jan - Dec no matter the UY? We have not used any points from 2015 UY So if I book the trip it can all be used from the 2015 UY?

No, points years are not connected to the calendar year, so you were misinformed or misunderstood.

Your 2015 (Feb UY) points can be used for trips from 2/1/15 to 1/31/16 without any borrowing or banking.

Any changes to the yearly points required charts are usually done well in advance of any possible bookings if that was what you were thinking.

They just published the required point charts for 2016.

With Feb UY, think of your calendar as Feb 1 to Jan 31. Your 2014 points are good from Feb 1, 2014 until Jan 31, 2015. Your 2015 points are good from Feb 1, 2015 until Jan 31, 2016. Unless you bank them before the eighth month of your UY (which would be Oct 1) and then you have extended them for one year (only one year). Or you borrow them into the previous year.
