Points transfers???

I am hopping to do a points transfer in the future for my June 2018 trip, which can be booked in November. I have never done a points transfer with someone before. What do I need to know about them? Please educate me, lol Can the points be banked or borrowed? What should I watch out for?? Any information would be helpful. TIA!

Transferred points cannot be borrowed but they can be banked. You will not see them online if they are not the same resort and UY as yours. You will have to wait for MS to open to book that stay. You can either transfer points in or out once per year. You can also buy up to 24 points directly from DVC seven months or less before the start of your trip. You do this over the phone and pay for them prior to them completing the reservation.

I must have miscalculated my points last year I didn't think I needed any one time use points, and then I would get all 24 next year. Somewhere in there I was off by 2! So for next year's trip (My son's 16th bday and my daughter's 8th grade graduation) I am short 26 points! UGH, 2 over the 24 you can buy!! Then I had the idea of getting a transfer that would cover that and even add an extra day.

I understand I have to call MS to book using those transferred points. If I book the first 6 nights online, I should be able to call MS and they can then book the last night or 2 with the transferred points and add it to my reservation correct?

I would also need to make sure that the points were 2017 UY or 2018 UY (only months up until June) depending on the month correct??

How about booking as many nights with points that you can, then add a cash night through DVC?
