Hey was hoping to get advice if anyone experienced same issue!

I transferred in points on my membership which had a different UY (Dec 18 UY) so I could not view them online. I reached out to DVC via chat asking how many transferred in points I had. The told me I had 125pts transferred in with a 2019 UY - I knew these to be my banked points with a DEC 2018 UY.

I canceled a reservation I had booked which unlocked points I had tied up but when I called up to see my points I was missing 63points. I reached out to DVC and after them checking systems for 90 minutes they were able to determine that these were never banked over from 2018 and you no longer can bank them as it was January.

I expressed to them how I could not see them online and the situation and how I inquired about them and received inaccurate information via chat. DVC said they don’t save phone calls or chats (even though it had been less than 2 months) and that they will use this as a learning experience to help support team do a better job but it was just tough luck.

I had also called up a bunch of times to use these points in November trying to grab an anniversary weekend trip (as was grabbing single days due to weekend being sold out). Disappointing then that no one notified me about these some expiring points that were still bankable! I had not asked about them due to my precious conversation online.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

This is a little confusing. Can you clarify for me because I’m nursing a cold and I’m not thinking clearly?
  • You have a Dec UY? Or were the transferred points the ones with a Dec UY?
  • You took a points transfer with another UY? Those are the “missing” points that were never banked? What UY were they?
  • You could not get a last-minute reservation in November, using those points which were transferred in and no one advised you that they were expiring?
 
Remember, transferred points keep their same UY so if, when you talked to thm, you were already in your 2019 UY, then you were given the correct information as the 2018 points were valid for current reservations at the time of the chat.

It sounds like you were not aware that when you got the transfer, that those points maintained the Dec UY and all banking and use deadlines associate with them followed that and not your own UY.

MS is correct, however, thst at this point, because you did not bank or use them by Dec 1st, 2019, they are no longer valid.

ETA: it sounds like you are disappointed that the CMs didn’t tell you in November you could still bank the transferred points. I understand that, but honestly, it really is up to the member to understand those deadlines.

I have a June UY BWV and AKV under same membership number. I sold two SSR contracts and transferred in 350 August 2019 UY. I had transferred in 200 December 2018 UY BRV.

I had a reservation for May 2020 - that I booked at the 7 month booking window over the phone in I guess beginning of October or November. I asked via chat what my points looked like

I was told when I asked how many transferred in points do I have on membership XXX and they replied:
2019 BRV 125
2019 SSR 350

In January I canceled the May trip and I had been expecting to receive back 75pts from BRV and remainder from AKV and BWV. But I got all the points back essentially to AKV and BWV and only 12pts back to BRV (125 to 137). They are large Bwv/akv contracts so hard to keep track as I have banked and borrowed.

Anyway I expressed my issue in regards to chat and they said it was their mistake and this is a learning experience for customer service. That this is a virtual contract so it’s just tough luck. I expressed my concern that I rely on them when I ask what my account has.

I then mentioned I was especially upset because I called right after Thanksgiving to book an anniversary trip and set up some waitlists because it was a sold out weekend (they used my Bwv/akv points to book it and still got to call to have them change what points I’m using as I asked to use my transferred Brv). But anyway that was another chance for them to flag it to me - it was not on my radar because I thought they had all been banked as my previous conversation when I asked they told me the wrong information.

Thanks for more information. I guess it just makes it important for everyone to know that because you can’t see the points, you have to be diligent on knowing whether or not you banked them or not.

I think that your question to chat ws, as you said, not understood by the CM.
 
I have found that a lot of the CMs who work in MS are not very knowledgeable on transfers. I’ve taken some transfers and sold some as well, and I’ve only even had one CM who knew how to do it quickly and correctly. Everyone else seemed very confused. This doesn’t really help you and what happened to you, and I’m sorry that you lost your points.

Thanks yes very frustrating as they told me the wrong information. Was hoping someone had similar experience of getting points back :(

It is just particular annoying when they say oh yes they told you the wrong information we will use this as learning experience so they don’t do the same thing to other DVC members
