POINTS SUBJECT TO CHANGE????

1. We got the glossy info today (video and hard cover book) which is truly great, but I was hoping for the fine print info. (public offering statement) Will ask our guide if he can send that so we can read ahead before our April trip to tour. Or, do they not send this info until after you tour?

2. Two questions: One of the main reasons to buy DVC is the hedge against rising prices. But, I see on the back page a note that says "the number of vacation points required per night is subject to change". Can these points be raised, or just re-organized amoung units and dates. I looked at1998 point list for OKW and 2001 and they appear to be the same....ie no increase.

3. Second question: With five DVC resorts on the east coast, is there any talk of building one in California near Disneyland?

Disney can only readjust the points, the total points for the year must remain the same. That would suggest that those that cut it too close on the number of points they chose might be in a bind but everyone else should be ok and some will actually benefit if they were to readjust a second time.

As to CA, DVC had a parcel of land bought then decided not to proceed and sold the land to Marriott who has developed it into Marriott Vacation Club Newport Coast. It is about 45 min south of DL. Who knows what DVC will do in the future but I wouldn't count on it.

I have been a DVC member since early 1992. Since then there has only been one adjustment to the point schedule. They adjusted the number of points necessary for certain seasons when they were adding VB to DVC. It was not a major change just more points necessary for certain seasons and less for others. As previously posted they canot change the total number of points for each resort in a year, so any increase in one area has to be offset by a decrease in another.
