Points Question

I have ressies for Jan. 08. Had to borrow some points from my 08 UY to book entire stay.

I'm thinking of taking a short trip in late Aug. (gotta make use of that AP ).
If I book it, I'll have to borrow more points from 08 UY. Should I have to cancel the Aug. ressie, do the points get returned to the 08 UY or do they go into holding. Since they're borrowed points, I'm not sure how that's handled.

I think I need more points!

If you cancel a reservation with borrowed points, they remain in the use year you borrowed them. You'll have to use them before they expire at the end of that use year. They only become holding points if you cancel less than 31 days before the reservation starts.
