I have 84 points in holding, that I have to use before I lose in March.

I am pretty flexible with my vacation time, and when I call member services, I guess I am just going to ask for anything that is available.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I am hoping to book a one bedroom, but will even do a 2 and borrow a few points, or take a studio and stay a little longer. With this flexibility - do you think I will have any problems?

I know about the 60 day window, and I figured December or January, as long as it is not X-mas week (I know it is probably one of the busiest times)

Thanks
Eric

Your flexibility should be the key to getting this done. Early December or sometime after the 1st week of January ought to be doable. Give them a call and let us know how you made out.

I don't think you have a prayer of getting early December, that is the busiest time for DVC resorts. However, I think January, February would certainly be doable as long as you don't run into the Marathon, MLK birthday or Valentines.

Interesting. I have heard that after thanksgiving is one of the slowest times at Disney/DVC up until a week or so before Christmas, and obviously the week b/t X-mas and New Years is packed.

I will let you know how I make out - and as I said, I will be completely flexible on when I go, so hopefully it works out.

Thanks
Eric

You are mixing 2 different things.
Walt Disney World - the PARKS are pretty quiet after Thanksgiving and early December.
DVC - Disney Vacation Club has the busiest time in early December. The combination of low point costs on the rooms, plus the holiday decorations plus the fact that the parks are less crowded causes the DVC members to fill the rooms. Earloy December books up very early. I would venture to guess the waiting lists have been long for some time.
DVC is busy, the parks are not.

Nothing is impossible, but the last 2 months of the year are not probable.

I called for the first full week of Janaury - 6th - 11th for a studio or 1 BDR. I figured it would be a quiet time as the kids are back in school. But there was nothing available at any of the resorts. So you might want to call every week to see what you can get.

I did call about early december and so far it seemed things were booked, so you guys are correct about it being busy for DVC, but not necessarily for Disney.

The woman did say she saw some 1 bedrooms open at SSR around the 12th (wed) so, I may call back on monday if that time seems ok.

I asked the MS rep if she had any suggestions. She actually felt if I wanted mid-January, it would probably be easy to get. She said once the marathon was over and the kids back in school - it would be a good time. My wife was down there last Jan - and she said the mornings were a bit chilly (we live in NY, so 60's is nice to me in January). I am going to just call daily and see what is available and try to book.

I will keep you all posted - keep the suggestions coming
